About a week ago I noticed that my vision was a little "dull" Things just did not look right, very pale. Last night I went out the garage and my white car looked very yellow. I did a search on the web and found this is called xanthopsia. It can be caused by Jaundice and a couple other very rare things (non of which I beleive I could have as they are interactions to drugs I have not been in contact with.
I am currently taking a lot of Abx: Tetracycline (2000 Mg day) Biaxin (1000 Mg day) Mepron (2 packets a day)
Here are my questions:
Has anyone else had this "yellow vision", and if so how long did it last and did you find out what it was caused from
Should I stop my Abx and call LLMD on Monday or should I stay oon them and go to ER to see if I can get blood work done to make sure I am not having liver issues (I had blood work done 2 weeks ago, but have not heard results)
Any suggestions would be great. I am not freaked out about this, but would like to do the correct thing!

Tetracycline is the only drug you listed that may have possible vision side effects. However, just because effects are not listed does not mean they aren't experienced by some.
Do contact your physician or pharmacist for more information.
If it were ME...a couple of days off meds may be less risky than possible vision problems down the road.
Good luck, M

Yep ... I have this. It seems to have started while I was on Biaxin, which I see you are taking.
Although it's not bad all the time, I still have this and I think it's been almost 2 years since I was on the Biaxin. The amount of yellow seems to flare up when my symptoms flare or I'm herxing. I don't know if this will ever go away.

I believe, with jaundice, the whites of your eyes would be yellow & your skin would get a yellowish tint.
Can you get someone else to look at your eyes? If you're seeing yellow, you wouldn't be able to tell.
Call the pharmacist & ask if it could be due to any of the meds and get their professional opinion. ???
Tell your doctor immediately if any of these rare but very serious side effects occur: vision changes, change in the amount of urine, unusual bleeding/bruising.
Hepatobiliary Disorders: Rare cases of hepatitis, and one case of fatal liver failure have been reported with atovaquone usage.

Some patients have reported here that Mepron can do it -- check with your doctor to rule out jaundice.

I talked to my LLMD today and he said it was a side effect of Mepron, he has seen it many times. It will go away 2 weeks after I stop taking it, so now I will just live with it. Thanks for all your help, and make sure you are out of the road when the stop light turns yellow, I may not see it Posts: 27 | From Las Vegas | Registered: Mar 2007
