Does anyone take an acid blocker? What time of day do you take it so it doesn't interfere with your antibiotics?

I upset my stomach terribly with tetracycline so now I'm taking Doryx which should be gentler.

However, my stomach has not healed completely yet and I'd like to continue to take Aciphex.

Thanks for your help.

At bedtime for one week only, you could try:

1 Zantac, and about 1/2 hour later, 2 Pepto Bismol chewables.

The Zantac reduces stomach acids and then the Pepto (bismuth) can do its wonders.

I can safely say this because my sis' LLMD several years ago gave her the green light to use this combo.

She ended up repeating it once...and did not have any stomach problems.

Go here:

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/12051564

Ideally it would be Tritec, but only avail. in Europe (yet made by our pharm. company).

I take Nexium 30 minutes before breakfast. My GI said Nexium needs food to activate, so eating 30-60 minutes after taking it is important. Also, taking it in the morning versus evening is important.

I also take Pepcid before bed, and keep liquid Gaviscon handy.

All of these were recommended by my GI to deal with reflux, nausea, and poor appetite, possible leaky gut and gastroparesis.
