Yes, it is already July 14, the first deadline, when $90,000 had to be received by Jones' legal defense team.
I spoke with their office this AM and understand that checks have been coming in fairly steadily, but that it is unlikely that the goal has been met.
IT IS NOT TOO LATE TO SEND A CHECK.
If you have been meaning to do so and haven't been able to round up your checkbook and envelope and a stamp and the correct address all in one place at the same time --and boy do i know how THAT goes --
please do so today!! ----------------------------
Make Donations payable to:
"Pullman & Comley Trust Account-for Dr. Charles Jones"
Mail to:
Elliott B. Pollack c/o Pullman & Comley, LLC 90 State House Square Hartford, CT 06103-3702
Note "gift" in the memo field

Any way I can let them know that I donated via paypal last week (I sent a check too when I learned that we should not use paypal)?
If I let them know about my paypal amt, do you think they'll count it?

Does this mean Bryon Rosner is coordinating his defense fund?

carol-
the team handling dr. j's legal defense fund has been doing so for years.
if you or anyone else who wants to contribute to the fund needs reassurance of any kind about the fund's management, perhaps calling the team directly would be helpful?

Dilly- what's the number? I don't see it listed in conjunction with address for fundraising?
Betty- that link was the FIRST link to show up when I googled Dr. Jones Defense Fund-it sure appears to be the most important just by that placement.

Dr. J. unfortunately wasn't able to help my niece but I sent my check. I know he has helped hundreds, perhaps thousands of children.
Standing up for Dr. J. isn't just helping Dr. J., but it's a decree from the Lyme community against all the ducks out there who THINK they know what they're talking about.

Carol: i understand why you might make this kind of assumption, but just as a technical point of reference, it is incorrect.
There are whole industries and many kinds of interested parties (including political groups) out there in Web world whose goal it is to make specific citations/websites appear at the top of Google's (and other search engines) list of hits/links when a search is performed.
How search engines determine this kind of "ranking" is hugely complicated mathematically, entirely automated, and has nothing in the world to do with an evaluation of the actual content of the links the engines conjure up, and as mentioned, is also subject to manipulation, innocent or otherwise.
as far as providing a phone number to the legal team. that number is readily available to anyone googling the firm's name.
i haven't posted it online because,in an over-abundance of no doubt unwarranted concern, i am very sensitive to the fact that calls to the firm about this case take up time that cannot be billed.
That so much time has already been provided and not yet paid for is precisely the problem at hand we are trying to help remedy.
By the by- does your interest mean that you're making a donation to Dr. Jones? Yay you....!

In "Other Topics" I listed 2 free websites where people can look for lost money. If they find some it may put them in a generous mood.

Hey Pickle, is there a letter floating around here somewhere about how to word an email to send out to some of my friends?
My brain is in Cymbalta withdrawal state, and not functioning at full capacity. I need all the help I can get!
I know I'm a day late and a dollar short, but will do my best after I get through this evening!
Hope you are in a functional state today!
Diva, to you!

Unfortunately my own LLMD wants her cut first.
My disability has been denied on the basis of a Quack declaring that I have Somatization Disorder. Of course insurance company didn't lay out the hoops I had to jump through in order to prevent a disruption of benefits until AFTER I got my last check.
It will take another six months for an appeal.
Needless to say, the pockets are empty at the moment. LLMD is livid about both the determination and my inability to pay her at the moment.
My interest lies mostly in trying to understand after all this time of making appeals that his defense fund doesn't even have a retainer yet?

Could we PLEASE get a number on how much has been raised toward the goal? We are all working so hard, and some feedback would really be helpful.

sweet Tracy-
if i had an exact or even approx number, i would tell it.
i had the chance to ask for a specific number yesterday but didn't, because the general picture was clear enough.
strictly IMO, no, the goal of 90,000 was not met, and probably not even close to that came in.
again, strictly IMO, the reality of a large and steady stream of "small" checks pouring in is NOT irrelevant or name/money wasted, even if this first goal does not get met.
IMO (sorry to be redundant), and also from what i have heard directly, an outpouring of support right now WILL be factored in and may change the tide, for however brief a time, because the legal team folks involved are entirely predisposed towards staying on to help Dr. Jones, given the slenderest hope of being able to do so.
i think, then, it is STILL NOT TO LATE TO SEND A CHECK...

PS to Cobweb--
no explanation of Lyme poverty or inability to contribute by you or anyone else is necessary- you must know how much we all can understand and relate to those circumstances.
i know for myself, though, that right now 100% of my focus is on reaching folks who have all along followed this story and the people involved, so already know how much support of every kind has been provided to Dr. Jones over the past few years and yet understand how real the need is now and why it still exists,
AND/OR
who don't know the whole story, but who understand/trust that the urgency expressed is real and worthy of support.
if you have pressing questions in your own mind about any part of what is going on- there is a ton of info available by searching here on lymenet, or you can call the legal team directly, or maybe someone will stop by here and provide you a synopsis of the whole shebang..

I have been searching-for something cohesive and coherent, and like Tracy9 suggested- a tally or some idea of where the fund stands at his moment would be greatly appreciated.
Is the legal team organizing the fund raising? Is that why I should call them?
Providing a synopsis of the whole shebang would be helpful.
I have searched on Lymenet-all I find are PLEASE HELP threads with different addresses and different amounts necessary and most of them postd with extreme urgency.
Here is a copy of perhaps the original thread dating back to 2005.

please go to ACTIVISM and read the latest there posted by someone; sorry can't remember the name but she was posting UPDATED LETTER FROM SHEILA....
note,
i broke up the entire letter from shiela, so if someone would copy it HERE, it would be helpful to have all the LATEST INFO AND DR. JONES JULY 22 HEARING DETAILS!!! thanks! *********************************
should be the 1st or 2nd post there!! *******************************************
