I was taking Nutricology's "Super Artemisinin", which also has Sweet Wormwood Oil in it. The oil is apparently from the leaves of the Artemisinin plant.

The pills are 200mg each, and I got confused with the dosages people were taking of Dr. Zhang's stuff, so I thought I could take more of my brand. Turns out Zhang's stuff is different, and you can't compare doses, so I ended up taking too much Art.

I got up to taking 2 pills in the AM and 2 at night (4 daily), even though the label says take 1 or 2 daily. So that is about 800mg Art daily I was taking, instead of 200 or 400mg.

I had some ringing in the ears while on it, even at the smaller dose of 2 daily. At 4 daily, the ear symptoms were a little worse. I also woke up one morning trembling all over and a little confused, teeth chattering! It was creepy.

I don't think I took it again after that, and haven't taken it since, but around that time, my memory got HORRIBLE. It is hard for me to follow through on tasks, etc because the memory is so bad now. I feel like I'm in a daze.

I just want to make sure this isn't from my overdoing it on the Artemisinin. I did read it can cause neuro or brain damage....can't remember which. I am also on Mepron and Zithromax, and had been on them for a month when this all happened.

I believe my cognitive issues were coming up before the Art, but this memory thing got bad around that time. Did I hurt myself????

Yeah, different brands can be confusing as they all have variations.

A couple doses more than usual won't scar you for life, so relax and just cut back to the prescribed dose.

It does not cause neuro or brain damage in this form at the prescribed dose.

Some reports of vestibular damage in rats (with a different form) was later countered with a large human study in Vietnam with artemisinin and no problems.

This is a treatment around the world.

Talk to your doctor. You could be herxing - if so - cut back.

This does use the liver detox pathway, Cytochrome P-450 so liver support is important.

Thank you, Keebler!

Phew (slightly relieved). I went out today and bought NAC and ALA (alpha lipoic acid). Maybe those will help me detox. Also doing a colon cleanse with some psyllium husk. No milk thistle for me, since I'm on Mepron.

I will probably start it again tomorrow or the next day at 200mg per day! [Smile]

Hossier
Singleton's book said not to take alpha lipoic acid while on Mepron
