Had another Dr. appointment today. So far I have been on Clindamycin for 46 days and Clindamycin plus Doxycycline for 23 days.
I really haven't noticed much improvement, just random herx's which I have posted here, also just an increase in overall symptoms.
But today my Dr, said he figured I would be noticing some improvement, don't know what hes thinking. He was the one that projected 6 months of treatment to me.
Anyway, my response to that was that we have only been treating for a month and a half.
I just hope the combination is working, I have had a few days were my head has felt a little clearer and i've felt a little stronger physically.
However, I still feel the same a little worse if anything. I keep reading on here that this is a marathon and not a sprint. And thats the mind set I have.
As much as id like to see improvement right away, I understand this is a slow process and I've been sick for over 3 years now. I just don't know if my Dr. is fully understanding that.
I do feel he is on the right track though, today we added Alinia to the combo. So now I have a triple threat going on of Clindamycin, Doxycycline and Alinia.
Clindy at 900mg a day, Doxy at 400mg a day, and Alinia at 1000mg a day. I tested positive for Cryptosporidium on a stool test, so hopefully the Alinia will clear that up and also hit Babesia and Lyme.
I'm also hoping the Alinia will bring some "noticeable" improvements in how im feeling.
It is always tough for me to describe if im "getting better" because I feel up and down all the time. I always hate answering the question "so how have you been feeling" because my answer always seems so mixed in my head.
Anyways, I appreciate everyones help on here you guys are great, I will keep you updated on my progress. Go back in another 3 weeks.
Take Care, Trevor

I am almost 22 months into treatment.
Don't know how long I've had the infections.
I still don't know how I will feel day to day and sometimes hour to hour.
I feel like a "good" day is a tease, yet I enjoy it to the max.
A month and one half is about how long I herxed on doxy initially.
Maybe your doctor is trying to find the right "mix" of antibiotics for you.
Hang in there.
Hugs,
Geneal

I was wondering about your doctor's projection of 6 months of treatment for you. My doctor has projected the same for me and I was always kind of skeptical because it doesn't seem like I've read much about people getting well in only 6 months. I've had lyme and coinfections for 5 years. My symptoms are tolerable, though. I'm just curious, did your doctor tell you why he/she thinks 6 months is all it will take? I'm just wondering if you had some information that could shed some light on this topic for me. Has your doctor had success in treating people with LYme after only 6 months? Do you have coinfections? Just curious.
