I have been taking both Spirulina and chlorella. Do I need to keep taking both or would just Spirulina do? I find that the Spirulina seems to do more for me.
Do they need to me taken 2 hours away from other things? I have been taking them with my other supplements with a yogurt kefir drink each morning.
I am trying to detox. I am also taking a zeolite product for heavy metals which I take every other night 3 hours away from other supplements/herbs.

When spirulina was first introduced 20 years ago, people quickly discovered it accelerated detoxification during fasting and cleansing.
Later, in Japan, researchers found spirulina significantly reduced kidney toxicity caused by the heavy metal mercury and three pharmaceutical drugs.
This suggested it's beneficial for humans suffering from heavy metal poisoning. Other researchers found rats consuming spirulina or chlorella algae eliminated 7 times the dangerous chemical dioxin compared to a control diet.
In 1994, a Russian Patent was awarded for spirulina as a medical food to reduce allergic reactions from radiation sickness. 270 Children of Chernobyl consuming 5 grams a day for 45 days (donated by Earthrise Farms), lowered radionucleides by 50%, and normalized allergic sensitivities.
Today we are subject to an onslaught of toxic chemicals in our air, water, food and drugs. Our bodies need to continually eliminate these accumulated toxins.
Spirulina has a completely unique combination of phytonutrients - including chlorophyll, phycocyanin and polysaccharides, that can help cleanse our bodies

they are both single-cell organisms; chlorella is usually classified as a plant and has more plant-like properties than spirulina. Spirulina are cyanobacteria which you could call primitive ancestors of the plants. So, they are not that different.
I think any discussion about health benefits tends to get 'religious' dimensions so I prefer to stay out of that. Both have proven use for detoxification and I think both can be toxic to humans if production is not well controlled (properties of the organism can change suddenly with season and many other factors).

Spirulina has a lot of Iron in it. Not exactly sure how bioavailable that iron is.
