It has been two weeks today since I went off the three whole days I was able to take the lowest dose of Clindamycin (LLMD pulled me off). After being off of it for about 36 hours, I actually felt better for 5 or 6 days than I have in months.

I am afraid to go back on it at this point, because I cried for three days from the pain.

The last few days my pain has gotten worse again (from the hips up); I am sure that I stirred the Babs up by taking such a short course of the Clindamycin.

I am going back on Zithromax (I was on this before the Clindamycin); took first dose a couple of hours ago.

I am frustrated with all of this right now; I hurt like h*ll on the Clindamycin and now I hurt like h*ll without it. My pain was very much under control before I started treatment for Babs........my anxiety is getting out of control again now too.

I am one of those "special" people that can only tolerate very small doses of most abx, so I am taking 250mg at a time, and I may pulse it depending on how I feel.

I am not in a position where I can stay home full time and go through this; I am trying to get things situated so that I can stay home more to at least try and treat Babs full force. There is NO way I can work nearly as much as I am now and treat it as heavily as I need to.

Also, the simple fact I herxed so badly on such a small dose of Clindamycin makes me think that I must be LOADED with it, which we have suspected since I started treatment for Lyme in Oct 2007.

Clearly everyone reacts differently to ABX, I have been on 900mg of Clindamycin a day for 45+ days.

I've been through some random herx's but mine were more flu like with extreme fatigue and nausea. Pain hasn't been a symptom of mine since onset.

Mine is mostly neurological though, perhaps discuss with you doctor another abx similar to Clindamycin another macrolide but not Clindy itself.

Best of luck.

Ok Tif,

I haven't done this drug at all, but since my lyme progressed into rheumatoid arthritis, I know quite a bit about pain, stiffness and how to resolve it.

First, absolute first step...how is your diet? You need the most anti-inflammatory diet you can get and that means fruits and vegetables. Avoid all animal products for 2 weeks. No dairy, no eggs, no meat. Stay away from Omega 6 oils. Use only extra virgin olive oil for non cooking like salad dressing and extra virgin coconut oil for cooking.

See how your pain and stiffness are after that. If that helps you then find a doctor trained in nutrition and leaky gut. You most likely have some developed some food sensitivities that are sabotaging your efforts to heal.

For some people, it is gluten. Pray it is not that as that is so hard to avoid. For me it was dairy and soy proteins. I was eating plenty of both and thinking it was healthy. Yogurt, soy milk. Soy and milk proteins are in almost everything packaged. Read ingredients carefully.

For 2 weeks just avoid all animal products. The rest you can figure out with a trained doctor. It is too complicated to try to figure out on your own. Ask your doctor to recommend someone or check out www.acam.org. This is an organization of doctors who have gone beyond their basic medical training to learn more about healing the body.

Once I got the diet right, my pain and inflammation just melted away. I am being treated for babesia also, but incurring very little pain. Whenever I do, I back up on the treatment. My doctor gives me a dose range to work within.

Ok, next is supplements. High doses of Vit C. Fish oil capsules, Magnesium...lots of it. A digestive aid like Vitlzyme. B vitamins. CoQ10 for your heart because inflammation is systemic. Most people with rheumatoid arthritis die from heart disease. Inflammation is systemic. You may feel it in your joints, but it is also attacking your vital organs. Lungs, heart, liver, kidneys. Inflammation is not a good thing.

Drink tons of water and green tea. If you eat mostly veggies and fruits, you will be eating mostly alkaline. All of us who are ill are too acidic. The bugs make us acidic.

Make these changes and you will feel better, I promise.

Luvs
