Does an anti depressant work when your being treated for lyme? Or is my head to messed up that the medicine will not work?

Of course an anti-depressant will help! In fact, I think it should be mandatory while going through this horrific process.

I took 150 mg of Luvox daily during treatment (now weaned down to 100mg since off abx).

I also took 4-8 1mg xanax during treatment for my terrifying anxiety. I am now down to 2 1mg xanax for sleep.

Do not punish yourself anymore than you have to...killing these buggers is hard enough...this is the time for band-aids and pampering!

Best,

I take Cymbalta for depression/anxiety.

It has always helped and I have had no depression in years. Then I started the Mepron. The depression hit me really hard.

I wonder if the medication would help if the depression is just a medicine side effect. I will have to look into that. I know my med didn't help me with it.

Besides that though if you are having depression and anxiety just from dealing with all this medication could help you.

I know there are alot of people who thing the worst of these kinds of medicine. I for one truly believe in them. If anyone has been so far down as me they would want meds too.

It is a personal decision though. These meds come with unwanted side effects too. The most common is weight gain. It is usually hard to wean off of too if your taking an SSRI.

If it works though...go for it.

Best wishes and I hope your feeling happier soon.

No weight gain from Luvox or Zoloft from my personal experience.

Antidepressants have never ever helped my severe chronic depression and my LLMD assures me it's because of lyme toxins in my brain.
So i can't really agree with whoever says an antidepressant will help, because i would love nothing more than that to be true.
The leading psychiatrist in Germany has concluded that all psychiatric diseases are chronic infections of the brain.
