Most nights now I am having a weird feeling, almost like a 'sick from anxiety' type feeling. This usually occurs before dinner and lasts until I go to sleep.

It kind of feels like uneasy anxiety, sick to stomach, air hunger type feeling all at once, some anxiousness that can develop into a full fledged panic attack if I allow it to.

Never really had this prior to the lyme disease. Is this b/c of the lyme, have you ever experienced it and what is it?

*It also could be because I take my doxy with my lunch around 1, then I take my ziphro aroudn 4 without food and don't eat dinner till around 7 and sometimes 8 o clock....

lyme can cause anxiety, it also can cause nausea

lyme can effect our nervous system (including our brain) which is part of the reason we can have so many symptoms.

If you feel they are being disruptive, then you should talk to your dr about it.

I hope treatment resolves these symptoms soon for you. [group hug]

While air hunger is sometimes attributed to babesia, to me it sounds like more of a bartonella thing. Or of course it could be Lyme!

My guess would be that the Zithromax is working against a possible bartonella infection, so you are having a worsening of any bartonella symptoms in response to this.

It could very well be plain old Lyme acting up, however, so you don't want to jump to the conclusion you have Bart, but that would be a guess.

Bart would be my hunch also because this symptom seems to have appeared since starting your Zithromax (which treats Bart....doxy doesn't). Or, the Lyme could just be responding even more than before because the Zithromax is eradicating it more fully. I would say either is a possibility.

Don't freak out and assume you have Bartonella, because these symptoms could be Lyme, but keep it in your mind as a possibility. Look at that Bartonella/Babesia symptom questionaire on this site, because that may give you some sort of "light bulb" moment.

Zithromax upsets my stomach also, often 2 or 3 hours after I take it. So, maybe your Zithro is starting to cause you nausea, and your anxiety sets in at that time too because the Zithro at that point is "working." Or, the anxiety is so bad it causes nausea. You be the judge.

When I read your description, it almost makes me think of the psychological symptom called "feeling of dread." Like, this impending doom that is not based in anything. Maybe that describes it well.

Either way, your Zithro is doing its job and that is good. Stick with it! I give you a lot of advice, it seems, so I hope it is helping.

I usually take my zithro with food. Maybe that will help your nausea some. I am not sure if it impacts the absorption or not though, so hopefully someone else will give their opinion on this.

Good luck and keep going!

Just had to leave dinner restaurant because I was having a feeling of dread and nausea at dinner and then I threw up.

Hoosier you are DEAD ON with all your advice I really enjoy it; but most dead on with two things. The Ziphro makes me sick in that same time frame. This causes that exact feeling you described:

When I read your description, it almost makes me think of the psychological symptom called "feeling of dread." Like, this impending doom that is not based in anything. Maybe that describes it well.

The dread. I feel like it could be a feeling of nausea or heart attack in my chest and i have a panic episode almost. I don't know what is causing it.

Throwing up....never fun!

Do you think your nausea is from the medicine upsetting your stomach,or from the feeling of dread?

It could be a combo of both though. I would try eating when you take your Zithromax. Sometimes I find something with fat and carbs like ice cream helps. (though it depends how healthy you eat, i guess with the ice cream. Maybe a banana would work).

I think that feeling of dread you describe is probably just your infections acting up or a Herx (herx is my guess). I would bet once you start to feel better and your body isn't in so much of a crisis it will be better.

I have been through SO many psychological problems over the course of my illness....I almost feel like I got the sampler platter....I have "sampled" a lot of pscyhological "illnesses!" If they are symptoms of Lyme though, I don't even know if you want to refer to them as "illness..." though they can be severe, for most people I believe they are only "symptoms."

The good news though is that for me they have all gone away either in time or once my overall health improved. But when I start to feel worse, sometimes they will act up.

I wouldn't let anyone put you on any antidepressant s right now, because then you will never know if these symptoms are just a passing thing right now. It is easier to monitor your symptoms without trying to "cover them up." But, of course, if you really need something, take it. Like, if it prevents you from having a panic attack while driving....obviously meds may not be a bad idea to take something. [Wink]

Just keep going, hopefully these symptoms will blow over with time.....you have certainly been through it with all these goofy symptoms popping up!

I think the symptoms could be from a combination of the Lyme and the doom feeling. I feel like the ABx make my heart race.

Basically its like a panic attack that lasts for two to three hours, but sporadically within those times.

I am already on anxiety meds... because the doc thought it was anxiety before he found the lyme

I'm having one of these 'lyme panic attacks' right now as we speak. Feeling that doom feeling out of nowhere and feeling like I'm going to drop over. My face is hot and flushed. I have had non lyme panic attacks before, this is much much worse.

Wish someone who has been through this before could just talk me through it.... i am so scared.

I have bad anxiety with lyme as well.

I have been working with a psychologist and the thing that has helped me the most is breathing.

In through your nose, out through your mouth, slowly.

I put my hand on my stomach to make sure I am taking deep breaths.

I have found that when you are focusing on your breathing, it is hard to concentrate on anything else and your mind slows.

I do this until I am relaxed again.

http://client11.addonchat.com/sc.php?id=306727

you don't need a password. i'm there along with 3 others

otherwise, lay down in bed, breathe slowly. you will get through it, you just need to relax

I have had that also.

i would be talking or having a coffe and would feel like could not breath and gasp for air and than all of the sudden like I was floating and heart involment and stomak issues.

It got worst when I treated babesia and came back and was horrible even vomiting involve with bartonella treatment.

it has been a while and My dosages are very high but MY HEART and stomack issues are gone.I am HUNGRY more than ever.

And I do not have anxiety anymore.

My son does and he has same feelign as yours b ut he is still on babesia treatment and we HAVE not started THE BIG GUN ON BART!!

He has heart , stomach and breathing problems....cause OF LYME AND BART!!!!

It will get better ...and eventually it would go away ...but bart treatment SUCKS...as it is conected right away with heart and breathing at the same time and stomack DIG track system .

Mine was everywhere.

So I am chasing it in my HEAD as in my stomack seems so much better.

I have been going through the same thing. My anxiety is extremely bad early in the morning. I wake up in a full panic.

I still am anxious throughout the day but not as bad as morning. I suffered with this years ago too.

Hang in there...I surely know how bad you feel.

I have the terrible feeling of doom all day. I just can't shake it. I take meds for it even. I think mine is probably a herx...but who knows.

I found out though if I feel like a big panic attack is coming on I will just let it run it's course instead of fighting it.

One of the worst parts of anxiety is waiting for the next attack to happen.

Sometimes by just letting it happen I feel a little less worried for awhile.

Try to have a good night...I can never get the chat to load for me.

I had my first full blown panic attack which lasted for what seemed like a week. I would pace the floors all night in the dark begging God to not let me die. I kept trying to find a Bible (and I'm not even "churchy"). I would cry, hold pictures of my son, and constantly gag and throw up.

I didn't know I had Lyme at the time. I still get lots of nausea and I don't know if it's because of the pain I'm in or if it's just from the Lyme.

My anxiety is worse now from the Lyme but now that I know that I have Lyme and these scary weird symptoms are from Lyme, I have been able to control the panic.

It SUCKS though.

I have had lyme, bartonella, babesia WA and microti, erhlichia, and m. fermentans. We've treated (I think successfully) the microti, erhlichia, and m. fermentans.

When the bartonella is flaring I tend to get anxiety while normally I'm pretty laid back. I also get some feelings of OCD, irritability, and increased pain, and visual problems (like I just can't see things right.) From what I have heard bartonella tends to cause more psychological and neurological symptoms, but, talk to your doctor for sure.

Good luck.

Hi Clint.

I sure can identify with what you are going through.

Prior to my Lyme, bartonella, babesia diagnosis, I had the worst anxiety/panic attacks. [Eek!]

Even ended up in the ER once feeling that if I closed my mouth I would stop breathing.

I couldn't sleep. Panic would wash through my body like waves.

From the top of my head down to my feet.

I spent my days trying to function despite this overwhelming sense of dread and doom.

Doxy helped a lot with this symptom.

However, 22 months into treatment.....guess what?

It's back. [shake]

Not as all consuming as before, but still very real and bothersome.

I am in the middle of babesia treatment (again).

Truly believe this to be related to Lyme and/or bartonella.

I am to talk to my LLMD next week and see what he thinks.

It wears me out and down. Like being on a constant adrenaline rush.

Leaves me feeling sick.

I was diagnosed with Generalized Anxiety/Panic Disorder as well as Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.

Xanax didn't help. Paxil made it worse (the worse night of terror I've ever had).

Call your LLMD. Tell them what is going on.

I had to take zith about one hour after a meal.

If I took it with a meal it made my stomach hurt really bad. [Frown]

Please pm me if you just need an ear or some empathy from someone going through it

(again) just like you are.

Hugs,

Geneal
