Me again [Big Grin]

My dr is going to try and treat me with oral abx but we are both winging it with doses and combinations. No LLMD's over here!

Below is the suggested regime. We would love your advice on this!!! Please help!

bella

Amoxicillin 1 g daily
Doxycycline 100 mg daily
Tinadazole 2 g weekly
for six months
with three weeks of treatment per month and one week off treatment per month to encourage log phase of growth in the pathogen.

--------------------
Lyme for 7 years. Various low doses oral doxy, amoxil, erythromicin. IV rocephin 2g/day 2 months.

Hey hey...

We have another "down under" on board! Good to see you!

I like the protocol since you asked. Sounds VERY reasonable.. and affective.

My only concerns would be...

1. you start one drug at a time in case you were to have an allergic reaction right off the bat ... then you'd know what was causing it.

2. If you've been infected a long while.. that seems to be a LOT of meds. Just concerned that the one week off may be rough with herxing. If so.. do call the doc and tell them.

Otherwise down... looks good to me!

Keep us updated on your progress... ok?

And would it be goofy to mention your kangaroo's? I've never seen one.. always wanted to. Have you seen one?

There has got to me a LLMD in the USA that will help guide your MD or at least I would hope so. I wonder how you could find one who would help out?

Be sure to include Nystatin or Diflucan for yeast.

Thanks guys for the help! I would be so alone and sad wihtout you!

Agree with starting one at a time to guage the reaction. Although I have been on amoxil and doxy before, just not the flagyl.

Not goofy to ask about Kangaroos tincup! They are everywhere where I live - on our football oval, on the beach, on the street. Same with the emus! [Razz]

Hi

If it was me I would increase the dose of Doxi to 400 to 600 mg a day-

Doxi is usually more effective than Amoxicillin

Parisa - I am now off the IV Rocephin, so will only be on the orals.

I don't think the doses are high enough as I have had lyme for 7 years.

Am also not sure about the combinations. Does anyone know where I can find more detailed info on combining abx for lyme other than the Burrascano guidelines?
