Does anyone out there have experience travelling on commercial airlines with bicillin LA syringes?

I was consiering packing the needles in my checked luggage, and the vials in a little ic-chest for carry on, but not sure even that would fly with the whole fluid-restriction thing.

I have a similar issue with B-12 syringes, which as much smaller needle but maybe worse as not sure nuddle can be separated, and also has to be refrigerated.

Anyway I fly on Weds 7/30 and need to figure this out quick...I don't expect calling the airlines will help, and I also don't want risk delayed delivery to a remote pharmacy if I can avoid it...won't work most places anyway for the compounded B-12.

I am not on bicillin but have traveled quite extensively with liquid medications...ie a big bottle of mepron. Also, my son is diabetic, so we have also had the needles and the whole shabang.

They say to make sure you have them in your plastic bags and left out...but they don't count as your liquid restrictions if they are medications.

Infact, they will see they are medication and it really fits in a totally different classification.

And the only reason I mention putting them in a plastic bag when going through x-ray is that way they don't even bat a lash and don't need to go through your entire bag to find out what it is.

You will have no problems even remotely.

Heck, I went to South America with a huge pharmacy in tow of liquids, herbs without even perscriptions obviously, colonix type powders, more drugs than you could imagine and they would really get in trouble if they didn't allow us our meds.

Have a wonderful trip and keep the prescription bottle or whatever with YOUR name on it and no problems. Guaranteed.

Cathy

I carried on bicillin with no problem whatsoever. They wanted to look at it, but gave me no trouble at all. Just be sure it looks as it did when you got it from the pharmacy (with the label with your name on it). I flew with it exactly as it was packed when I got it.

I put it in one of those hot/cold bags you see at the grocery with a freezer pack to keep it cold. They let that through with no trouble as well.

I've also carried Mepron on with no problems, too.

I put all my meds in a gallon ziploc bag, then use the quart bag for my regular stuff that you have to put in a bag. I figure my Mepron would take up the whole quart size bag and there'd be no room left for my lipgloss! [lol]

I take the bag with the meds (all, pills and liquids alike) out of my carry on.

Have been off bicillin for a couple of years, but did quite a bit of traveling with the bicillin in a small, soft side cooler, which I carried on,and no one ever even asked me about it.

I did however, have a copy of my prescription with me in case I was questioned.

Good luck!

I've traveled post 9-11 with syringes for B-12 and last week with Mepron. I put the Mepron in a separate zipper bag and took it out with my other liquids and put them all in the bin when I went through security.

There were no problems, or even a mention of it.

i've had to give myself injections on the plane, and when I asked how to dispose of the needle, they gave me a biohazard bag to dispose of it in.

I've taken bicillin on the plane. I called the TSA before going to find out how I should handle this but in a nutshell I just packed up everything in my carry-on luggage and brought the prescription with me. They went through my bags and checked everything but it was no problem to bring on the plane.
