going to call her doctor tomorrow, but i found a VERY small tick on my daughter's stomach yesterday morning. it did not come off that easily and did leave a tiny mark even noticeable today where it was on her.

i would like to request some ABX just in case (i've already wanted to since i had lyme while pregnant w/her and posted recently about it), but how long should i request that she be on the amoxicillin?

my LLMD has recommended not treating children unless they are symptomatic, but i think in this case since it obviously bit her, i would feel better doing some ABX.

thanks again if anyone could help.

If it were my child, I would ask for 6 weeks of amoxil.

I would rather be safe than sorry.

Sounds like a nymph...I had one on the back of my leg last summer.

I could not believe how small it was!

Hugs,

Geneal

Hi there,

My 2 year old was just recently bit by what I think was a tick larva. They are so small it is almost impossible to find them.

I called Dr. Jones, since he sees my boys and he recommended a month of azithromycin for her. I also believe that I had lyme while pregnant and think that my daughter also may have it, although it is so hard to know. She itches her head a lot and wakes up from her nap really cranky and itchy sometimes.

She only had band 41 show up, but I plan to retest her again after this month of zith.

Hope this helps. Sounds like we are in the same situation.

My 5yo had this tiny tick attached in her ear, no bigger than the size of the head on a pin.

It was a miracle I found it.

After talking to 3 Dr.s one finally gave in and gave me 30 days amoxicillin. She was 45lbs so she got 400mg twice a day.

I called Dr. J office this is what was recommended to me.

Also make sure your little one gets a probiotic at least an hour after abx.

Do this asap, don't wait for symptoms.

thank you so much for your responses. i will def ask for at least a month of ABX. i'm thinking they will give me the amox instead of the azithromycin. hopefully, that is just as good.

after seeing this tick on her the other day (while vacationing at the same summer home in the catskills i have my whole life), i wonder if my 3 sisters and i even have lyme congenitally or just by being bitten. this tick was so small, you would NEVER even notice it! guess we'll never know..
