My PCP or my Lyme doctor? [Big Grin]

I have to take Prilosec (on the list) with some abx (like Zith) or I feel horrible and am in pain.

I think that it's important to weigh the benefits with the risk of each drug .... sometimes a drug we say we wouldn't take we end up taking once the benefit outweighs the risk. [Smile]

I REALLY don't want to be on Nexium, but I have terrible acid reflux even though I've done MANY natural things to counteract it.

and I'm not even CLOSE to being overweight.

Prilosec and Nexium can also cause B12 deficiency...something I have.

I've been on Advair, Celebrex, Prilosec, Nexium, pseudoephedrine - and Ketek was prescribed (by an LLMD), but I never took it.

Gee, I'm a walking chemical experiment, especially considering I was on lots more drugs, including Accutane, Seroquel, Lithium, and virtually every SSRI under the sun.

For some reason I drew the line with Cymbalta.

The conclusion I draw from this is that doctors are essentially legalized drug-pushers, perhaps why they were so concerned that I might be abusing Klonopin and actually getting my 'high' for free. Hmmm?...

Can't wait until these doctors are living on the streets like I would be, if my sister wasn't helping me.

They destroyed my life, health, income, appearance, brain - what's left?

Great, I've been on Nexium for the past year or so, due to acid reflux issues. Now you mean to tell me, that I have to worry about having a heart attack from taking it? Can I win?

Lymetoo,

I'm sure you have been checked for this and we probably have discussed it (sorry about that...I do have lyme brain ya' know) but have you been tested for H. Pylori?

That is what was the cause of my acid reflux.

And, everybody, if you have to take Nexium, might as well make it Prevacid. When the prevacid patent ran out, all the pharmacutical company had to do was half the dose and change the color of the pill and whalla! a new patent.

Yes, I'm serious. Nexium has half the active ingredient of its predecessor....Prevacid.

I got this information from the book "The Truth about the Drug Companies" by Marcia Angell, MD. Here is an excerpt of her book.

I take Protinix for reflux; prefer Aciphex, but my ins. co. doesn't!

I took Celebrex for a very short time and determined that it wasn't doing anything.

My LLMD won't prescribe any of the "new" meds until they have proven themselves to be safe.

I had an stomach Erosion, ( Bleeding ) those 2 months of omeprazole allowed my stomach to heal, and who know's, possibly saved my life .

I have also been treat for H Pylori, ( the Erosion, H Pylori, and Lyme, all unrelated ). These kind of thing's couldn't be treat year's ago. 25 Years ago my mother was found dead on the floor, she bled to death, from an Ulcer. Modern drug's would have saved her.

We should embrace modern medicine, sometimes it's better than the alternative .

As for the side affect's, they are usually inside the packet.

If my stomach get's upset with ABX I take some. But try not to make a meal of them.
