Hi all,

I just spoke to my LLMD today and was told my Lyme panel from Igenex was negative. However, I asked him if ALL bands were

negative, and he told me that there was "something" on band 31 of IgM and on band 41 of IgG.

According to Dr. C's Western Blot explanation, band 31 is significant. Have any of you been diagnosed with

only the above indeterminate or positive bands?

Any info is greatly appreciated.

EDIT: I just had the doctor's office fax me over the results. They are as follows:

IgG: 41 KdA ++
IgM: 23 - 25 IND, 31 kDa +, 39 kDa IND

Can you guys tell me the significance of these results, if any?

L.

Easypearls, I assume that he's treating you based on symptoms and clinical presentation as well, correct?

You may want to list your symptoms and reasons for seeing an LLMD....

Positive test results and tests in general help but are not definitive....

31 is specific for Lyme.

In the presence of symptoms, you must have Lyme. Is that what your LLMD thinks?

lymeorsomething,

yes, he is treating me based on symptoms and clinical presentation. my symptoms are listed here:

symptom list

i've been on doxycycline for 3 weeks but had to stop it 3 days ago because of GI problems.

once i get the GI stuff sorted out, i'll be able to go back to the abx.

thank you for the reply [Smile]

sixgoofykids,

i spoke with him only briefly on the phone. i asked

him the results, he said "negative." i then asked

him for information on specific bands and he told

me about the positives. his office then faxed me

the results, which i have in front of me.i have an

appointment to see him next week, at which time

i'll discuss it further. the plan is to keep

treating me and see how i respond to abx. this was

the plan from the beginning, regardless of test

results.

thank you for the response [Smile]

Yeah, you seem to have the double whammy with the viral load as well. I have high EBV and HHV6 titers too.

The right Lyme regimen will hopefully enable the body to tackle the viral load in the right way.

alv,

no, i have only just begun treatment. i see my LLMD next week for my second visit.

as for bart, i wouldn't be surprised, especially considering i just identified the rash i have on my arms as the same rash caused by bart.

i'm dealing with some nasty GI problems that need to be taken care of before i can return to abx, so i don't even know when i'll be back on doxy.

what is usually prescribed to treat bartonella?

thanks,

L.

there are numerous possible bartonella treatments. abx-wise, rifampin plus another abx like zith or biaxin, or levaquin (though levaquin and others in its class have lots of potential scary side effects so IMO it would be prudent to do extensive research before trying this drug. it has helped many people, though).

natural treatments: people have had success with the deseret biologicals homeopathic bart remedy, high doses of olive leaf extract, dr. zhang's HH capsules (can't remember what herb that stands for) and there is some evidence that cumanda is effective against bart.

for natural bart protocols, you might want to do a search on posts by 'bejoy' (member #11129) and 'hardynaka' (member #8099).

lots of helpful info re: bartonella abx via the search function as well.

(also, i had no idea your arm rash was indicative of bart. do you have the rash that looks like stretch marks?)

You mentioned B12 deficiency...that could be the cause of your problems. Please find out what your B12 level is and if low treat that first.

Your western blot does not have enough bands (IMO) to begin lyme treatment.

Best, Timaca

i disagree with timaca. i think there is plenty of evidence here -- and most LLMDs would agree -- to suggest a lyme diagnosis.

I agree with H.

Timaca is always giving these type of replies to people when, in my opinion, by the poster's test results, it's pretty obvious they have lyme.

heiwalove & disturbed me,

luckily, my LLMD agrees with you (i really don't think i could deal with another doctor disagreeing at this point. lol). thanks for the confirmation/validation. [Smile]

timaca,

i've been treating the b12 on and off for a year. hopefully more stringent tx of it will help, but my problems began prior to the deficiency. thanks for the reply.

h.,

the rash i was referring to is erythematous papules, which i now realize is not solely indicative of bartonella, but is listed as a possible symptom of it. i don't have the one that looks like stretch marks.
