I am on flagyl, and not a significant herx here. Does that mean I don't have any cysts to be busted, or what? not sure what to do. Jenin

Some people are lucky and just get better without herxing.
Hopefully you will be one of those lucky people that just have there symptoms improve.

Herx reactions are understandable and most often unavoidable. However, I think they can be potentially dangerous.
It is not necessary to have a herx reaction for the medicine to work and, in fact, it will work better if your body is not overly stressed.
I think so many try to comfort themselves during the awful reaction as, well, at least it's sign that something's working. But IMO, the a herx is best avoided.
Glad your liver is handling this so well.

I too am not getting any die-off. I had huge die-off when I first started IV now nothing (I'm alternating Doxy IV with rocephin IV). I also took Flagyl IV and no die-off.
I think I have hit a plateau.

If you're not feeling sick/herxing, its possible that your body can handle the kill off load without throwing you into crisis.
Personally, Id love to slowly keep getting better without having any episodes of hot, cold, shakes, headache, nausea, paranoia, and feeling like you're physically and mentally going to die.... right?
The only true meausure of if you're getting better is by asking yourself, how do you feel, after being on the abx for a good length of time.

so the bugs are gettingkilled even though no big herx? My body is better actually. No major burning, no stinging, no stabbing...mostly I feel worseing of symptoms in my head, like a headach, and my ears are worse. Does it cross the bbb? I also have bart, and I felt worse on levaquin, which I have to take again. So, does that mean another layer oflyme is gone, and now we deal with bart? Jenin

Unfortunately your last question cannot be answered. It's possible that your current HA symptoms are the "herx" from your latest round of drugs.
I for one, never really think that I have herxes. I guess that I do, but I have a hard time seeing them. I am beginning to. It's taken me a year of this crap to finally begin to figure out when I'm herxing. I'm not complaining. Believe me! I'm just saying that I often marvel at people who just "know" that they are herxing. It's never been that clear to me.

....Probably only half or less than half of us have true 'herxes'....in fact I sometimes lament the overselling of the dreaded inevitable herx to the point that it discourages people from trying abx as the first line of attack.
the two lymies in this household just get steady improvement in most cases and none if the wrong abx is used.
Maybe our bodies can detox better than some. But the only real herxes I've had were from artemesinin (knotted and cramped leg muscles for a couple of days), cipro and avelox (sore tendons and bone pain on TOP of feet....could have been toxic quinolones or herx who knows), and tinidazole (misery for 6 months...almost certainly nitroimidazole toxicity)
Stop fretting about a herx...maybe like most of us you'll just get better when you hit the right drug combo.
