I just got out of a 4 day stay at the hospital. I just started IV Rochephin and had my fourth "dive" when driving home about an hour later my lower back felt warm in my spine. I suddently became very nauseas. I was close too home so thought I could make it. I threw up in my car and outside the car running to the inside of my house. I grabbed the phone and began shaking violently..i fell to the ground called 911 and everything was numb and I couldn't move or talk. I kept throwing up. The EMT came...

They thought my PICC was septic but test show my blood was clean. I did have a small blood clot in my arm in the vein. The clot hasn't moved to my lungs or heart.

My question is was this a HERX? In the Ambulence my blood presure went from as low as 99 to high as 198...before I finally stablized. On my own.

In the hos. I got another "shake" attack. I was very cold and numb and couldn't move. It went away after 15 min. on it's own.

The DR isn't sure what caused this but I'm scared to drive now and scared it will or may happen again! Anyone any ideas?

Could have been a herx. How long have you been sick? I had simuliar reactions on IV Rocephin, except I never lost the ability to move.

I think my bacteria load was high and die off too rapid....could be your case as well.

Thank goodness you were able to call 911. Are you still on the IV Rocephin? Did you inform your doctor? If not, you should!

Good Luck,
Feelfit

How long on IV rocephin were you? Did they continue it?

yes my LLMD checked me in to the hos.

He pulled my PICC out. He doesn't want me to get it back in and continue the IV Rocephine.

I want to try it more if it was only a Herx...maybe lower the rocephine dose...

Has this happened to anyone else? I only did four IV drips before this "herx".

That was a pretty strong reaction. Your doc probably doesn't want to be responsible for another episode like that.

I wanted to keep on w/ rocephin too, but the doc switched abx. he didn't want any more bad reactions.

good luck,
Feelfit
