I was required to take my annual TB skin test today for work. Looking at the mark it left on my arm (bigger than a quarter) I bet it's going to be a positive result when I go get it read.
I suspect I have Lyme- tested positive on the igM band 41. I have an appointment with a LLMD this week for mosre tests and hopefully treatment.
Wouldn't Lyme cause a false postive for tb? Both are spyrochetes (I think.)
I have never had a postive in any year past. I have zero symptoms of TB.

I have no clue if it could cause a false positive.
I just had my TB test a last week. Mine was negative. I actually had one a month ago too. The nursing school I am starting required a two step TB test.

I also have a positive TB test using the sub q needle test.
I have no clue wheater it has anything to do with lyme. I had to take INH meds with B vits for a full year. I also had no symptoms of TB. I had to take this as I was going to be a nurse.
I also had to get a chest x-ray.

it's actually too early to see whether or not you're positive for TB. the reaction you're having is probably an allergic one. i had the same experience not long ago. i thought it was positive and sort of freaked out, but was told by the nurse that it was too soon (the same day it was placed) to react to the actual PPD. true enough, by the time it was read, the initial spot cleared up and it read as negative.

in 6th grade, i had a POSITIVE TB result, but found out I'M A NON-CARRIER!!
i've had several tb reactions over years; they stated i'll ALWAYS BE POSITIVE BUT A NON-CARRIER!

I was dx. with Lyme in 2006 and have had to have bi-annual TB skin tests for work and have never had a positive. There have been a few times I remember looking at my forearm thinking, "man, that is going to be positive" but come the next morning, it was never raised. I have never heard of the Lyme causing any rxn to the test that would alter the results. JUST DONT GET A FLU SHOT!!

I was given the BCG test for TB in 1962, as at that time "they" thought it would render a person immune to the disease. The vaccine caused a severe reaction on my thigh. I am a positive reactor and have developed scar tissue in my lungs. They test me on a regular basis, but no big deal.
