When I speak of petechiae, I am talking about the red / purple dots as shown in Dr. S from Florida's Bartonella book.
They appear as circular, flat OR raised broken vessels, about the diameter of a coarse sea salt.
I NEVER had ANYTHING like this on my 39 year old body BEFORE my mysterious 'neuro' sx's started 2-3 years ago.
Since starting Lyme treatment 7 weeks ago (IV Roce/Oral Zith/Flagyl), these d*mn things have grown by at least 20 in the last few weeks. I'd guess I have about 35-50 of them now and notice a few new ones every day! Mostly on chest, arms.
They are painless, but still trying to figure if they definetively point to Bartonella? My LLMD is not certain either way.
Starting Bart tx TODAY! Rifampin AND Biaxin XL - I would do ANYTHING to overcome these burning feet/lower legs/hands

Petechiae are also seen with babesia.

i as told i have "cherry angiomas" but these teeny red dots are petechiae....
i have bart.

I have bart and I get petechia every time I make a change in my treatment. I've had them mostly on my upper thighs but also on my arms. They only last a couple days.
My Dr. doesn't seem to think they are from Bart - but I suspect they are.

I have an 'equivocal' Lyme test (many bands, but overall negative). Never taken a Bart test but VERY well could have it.
I've gotten these dots/spots 'before' ANY Bart tx...only started Bart tx today, this will be interesting.
For anyone else reading that tested + for Bart, did you have burning soles and did they improve with tx? If so, what tx and how long?

I have a lot of them, one on each side of my breasts almost in the exact same spot, and they have been there for 2 months. I also have some on my legs, but a lot on my abdomen. They I think are papula (spelling?) Most of mine are raised, and look like tiny blood blisters. The size of a grain of sea salt also.
I had 2 bull's eye rings years ago, was tested negative recently for Lyme and have not been treated. Doing things on my own for now.
Do you want to know what's weird? A patient of mine at work had a bunch of them, and after I noticed them, she ended up with shingles. Actually, they took biopsies of her blister areas right now because they are not clearing up on the usual medication and cream.
Don't know of any connection. I do know one of the coinfections has pics of the papula online and I was like oh my God! That's what *mine* look like.

if it is petechiae, then they will not blanch when you press on them. Petechiae is like a bruise under the skin. My son's spots are not petechiae... but in fact new little capillaries that have arisen under the skin. Overgrowth of blood vessels is associated with bartonella from what I understand.
I have attached some photos with a previous posting... search for my name and 'dots.'
My son has both babesia & bartonella with his lyme.
