maureen - Organic Extra Virgin and unrefined. This is what most health food and vitamin stores carry.

Some people here cook with it and really like the bulk form. It is a solid form when cool - much like shortning looks, but turns to liquid in a warmer environment.

I put the oil in my horse's grain at night.

I prefer to take the capsules. That way I know exactly how much I'm getting each day. Mine say 3/ea. day. Start wit one a day and work up to full 3 (OR WHATEVER THE DIRECTIONS SAY)

My LLMD was happy to hear I had started coconut oil before I started treatment.

Best of Health

Nutiva is a great brand and the best price I have found is at www.iherb.com.

I have no affiliation. I'm just a customer.

Ha-Ha! Searching for a good article to post here, I found this website by Nutiva. Not very scientific, but fun.

http://nutiva.com/products/10_coconut.php

Here is a more informative website and they don't seem to be selling anything. Also, links to more information.

Good virgin coconut oil will taste really good like a Mounds bar sans the chocolate.

I use wildernessfamilynaturals.com 1-800-945-3801 Its certified organic, Cold pressed, extra virgin. I love it. I buy it at my Dr's office. I do not sell it. Its sooooo yummy. A bit pricey and worth it.

If you are ordering $49+ from vitamin shoppe through amazon you can get $10 off. Usually vitamin shoppe prices are pretty high, but for the Nutiva Coconut oil it is $21.99, plus shipping. I bought two of these plus something else inexpensive that I wanted to get the $10 off. The address for this is:
http://www.amazon.com/Nutiva-Coconut-Organic-Virgin-solid/dp/B000P1ZWG6

iHerb is also good as others have said. I've gotten coconut oil from them once too.

Hi Maureen,

I really like Lauricidin, which my LLMD recommends.

You can learn more about it at www.lauricidin.com

I hope this helps.

If coconut oil is good, is coconut milk also good? I am using coconut milk to make smoothies to gain weight. Will it have the lauricidin in it as well? Hiker53

Is there really a difference in the brands of coconut oil?

I buy one at Whole Foods that's about $8 for a jar (16 oz.). It's organic, virgin coconut oil...

Why pay more for other brands?

I also think that coconut oil is more for getting rid of viruses than bacteria. That's the research I've done.

It's good in oatmeal.

If this is true, then coconut oil won't really do much for us.

One benefit: I had roseacea for years that my dermatologist couldn't get under control with any of her different meds.

I started rubbing a tiny bit on my face after washing it, twice a day. Within days, I was roseacea free and have remained so to this day.

My skin has never looked so good.

I also cook with it. It has a high smoke point, so less chance of becoming unhealthy thru becoming too hot.
