Wondering if anyone has had success using castor oil packs for liver or other symptom relief?

I read where it is supposed to be helpful.

http://www.meridianinstitute.com/echerb/Files/5734-1.html

Instructions seem basic:
Soak a flannel cloth in castor oil, place it over liver, gallbladder, or intestinal area. [*use care as it stains* warnings] Cover with a saran wrap, apply heat with heating pad or hot water bottle for 45 min to hour. Then cleanse area with baking soda/water mix.

Supposedly helps with:
Castor oil packs are a traditional holistic treatment for a range of conditions, such as: cholecystitis (inflammation of the gall bladder), poor eliminations, epilepsy, various liver conditions such as cirrhosis and torpid liver, scleroderma, headaches, appendicitis, arthritis, incoordination between assimilations and eliminations, colitis, intestinal disorders such as stricture and colon impaction, incoordination between nervous systems, neuritis, and toxemia.

Anyone tried it???

I have pretty terrible ribcage pain, and when it was at it's worst, I would get some relief for an hour or so from castor oil packs and a heating pad.

I'm not sure if it's helping now, but I rub castor oil on my abdomen where my liver is every night, before I go to bed. I have liver issues as well, and I heard that castor oil helped with that, so I figured it was a good idea...even if it's just for peace of mind!

I would try it though with a heating pad if you are having discomfort. It's always worth a shot!

Good luck [Smile]

Aloha~

yes, I enjoyed them....I feel they helped my pain as well as advancing in treatment....

I used to do them several times a week....not so much anymore now that my liver enzymes are down and don't have pain there anymore...

but it's a good reminder, i should do them once in awhile again...

I used a hot water bottle and an old pillow case....

enjoy~

I posted a big article about this. Do a search of the site & you will find it.

I think it's supposed to increase white blood cell count, too. I like to do them but I'm not sure how effective they are for Lyme.

It feels good to do them. Castor oil is supposed to have all kinds of benefits. I don't know if it's a cure for anything...
