How long? I believe my husband has had LD for about 45 years, and he was only just diagnosed this January.

Dr. R is awesome, and worth the cost, at least as far as I believe. I was shocked too, but I thought, "why run around for years and years to different doctors? Just do it right to begin with."
Plus, in the long run, it may save you money. I think he really sticks his neck out for his patients, gets insurance coverage for all kinds of things.
Good luck!

The important thing is, especially since you are pregnant, getting treatment NOW.
Be sure to make a "bulleted" timeline for your appt. so your doctor can breeze through unexplained periods of fatigue or month-long sore throats, rashes, etc.
Let the doctor evaluate from all of it.
Don't worry that you might have had it a long time as that may give you a feeling of hopelessness - and you don't know for sure. The key is getting the RIGHT treatment now.
Something so seemingly simple as a wheat or dairy allergy could have caused some of the problems. Whatever all is going on now, help and guidance should come from a good LLMD (hopefully, who has had ob. patients before).
In the NEWBIE tread by Treepatrol, you can find a thread something like: making the most of your LLMD appointment.
I am very glad to hear you have an appointment. I hope your trust is confirmed by other prospective moms who have sought treatment.
Be sure to talk to the leader of the local support groups.
One of my first symptoms was chostocondritis also. I've had it for over 20 years, along with other lyme symptoms, but was just diagnosed.
I believe a Fire Island tick got me too! I spent all of my younger years either hanging out or working there.
I know lyme treatment is expensive, but I would have done anything to get better if I had been diagnosed at an earlier age, like you. You will probably have great success if you stick with a good llmd.
Good luck!

Since my dx over two years ago I have become aware of symptoms that go back a lot further than I originally thought.
As long as I can remember I have had off and on problems with IBS.
I recall having bad headaches in junior high school, and going to several doctors about them, only to learn the word "psychosomatic." Eventually they went away.
In high school I had frequent strep throat. Back then the tx was a penicillin shot in the butt. They hurt so much I sometimes wanted to pretend there was nothing wrong with me. I was also afraid I would have to have my tonsils out.
I also know I have never been a morning person. Even in high school I needed a good 8 hours of sleep. I didn't understand how people could get by on less.
I was always the first to go to sleep at slumber parties. Back then we actually did sleep, eventually.
By college I couldn't stay out as late as our dorm hours were without falling asleep. I had one all nighter and felt so bad I vowed never again.
I have been exposed to ticks most of my life. My parents had a 25 acre farm with an orchard, vegetable garden, and beef cattle.
We used to chase the cows and I remember walking around the big pond where they drank. I'm sure there were ticks there.
We also had dogs all my life. It was not uncommon to pull ticks off them.
My dad took me fishing a lot. Usually it was at lakes and we would walk around to find just the right spot.
I also went horse back riding, camped, hiked, swam in lakes, so there were many opportunities to be exposed to ticks and Lyme, even though it hadn't even been named at that time.
It doesn't matter how long you have been ill. What matters is that you get treatment when you test positive, especially since you are pregnant.
I have three adult children. They were all exposed to Lyme in utero and through breast milk. Now I can see symptoms in them.
I didn't' know any better back in the 70's and early 80's. Now we do, so please get the treatment you need and don't question your dx.
A timeline is a good idea. I had one when I was first dx'd and I know it helped my doctor see that I was chronic, not just recently ill.
Good luck!

I developed neurolyme 5 years ago, and that is when I got diagnosed (at age 34)
but looking back I have had symptoms of this mess since I was about 4 or 5 years old!
It explains a lot.
