Does anyone know of an affordable and easy to follow anti-yeast/candida diet for those of us who live in the rural South?

Everything here in Alabama is battered and fried or overly sweetened. [Wink]

And being in a rural area, there really is no "health food" retailers, and local grocery outlets

charge a fortune for foods/beverages that would work on the diets? No one stocks fresh fish, lamb, or other "exotic", at least to my location [Roll Eyes] , items!

Thanks for your input!
Jim

HI Jim

The anti-yeast diet is pretty limited. There isn't a whole lot you can eat and what you can eat you should be able to find there. I'm sure you know no sugars, no carbohydrates, no vegetable with high sugars (potatoes, carrots, pumpkin, root veggies). Use either olive or coconut oil for cooking. Foods that are especially good for and fight candida:

chicken (white and dark meat)
turkey
goose
pumpkin seeds (raw)
garlic
ginger
leeks
onions
vegetable juices (green)
herbal tea
coconut milk
coconut oil

Hope this helps.
Mandy

Don't eat out!!

Don't the restaurants there have chicken salads or chicken breasts? Steak and vegetables??

I'm in S. Missouri and we have all the foods every other place has. I've been in S. Texas too... same thing.

The best bet is to eat straight proteins and green vegetables.

i printed out the diet and that's what i'm following.

but i don't understand why no milk -- i drink skim milk.

what has dairy got to do with yeast?

i can't make the connection....

about the restaurants, i understand completely. we like to eat out about 3-4 times a week and it's really tough.

no chinese, no chile's, no tex-mex.

well i guess we'll loose weight won't we?

If you'll read the label on the milk, it contains sugar. It's "milk sugar" but it's sugar to your gut and to the yeast.

They love it!!

Why no Chili's? I eat there sometimes. I would eat Chinese, but no longer can since all the soy sauce contains gluten.

Thanks, Mandy for the list....and as for the restaurants, Lymetoo in my town we have pretty much only fast food.

A Hardee's, McDonald's, and a Kentucky Fried/Taco Bell combo restaurant, and a Pizza Hut.

The nearest "steak" or otherwise is 45 min to an hour away, so I feel your pain Randi [bonk] ....and I'm allergic to whatever it is they put on salad to keep it from turning brown!!

I guess I will lose weight [Big Grin]

Lymetoo buy your own gluten free soy sauce and bring it with you in a small bottle when you eat Chinese out. Some restaurants in Calif. even have it if you ask for it.

I use to keep a small bottle of gluten free soy sauce in my car and my favorite lunch place always put a bottle of it on my table when they saw me walking in the door.

You mean then eat it Mongolian style? Otherwise, it's ALL made with THEIR soy sauce.

Even then, you can't be sure they will properly clean the "slab." Right????

Randi... Got a George Foreman grill? Makes life easy!!! [Wink]

Hi JimP ~ I have had Candida so bad and since 9/2007 (even before that due to attempts at HRT).

I used to live in Alabama - Mobile to be exact. They have a nice health food store on Airport Blvd. And the owner would work with you.
She's great.

In Dothan they have these three listed on the web
Dothan Health Foods (334) 677-8333 3500 Ross Clark Cir Ste 120, Dothan
Health Concepts (334) 673-2444 1901 Wise Dr, Dothan
Health Quest (334) 673-8630 801 W Main St, Dothan

Also - Those Candida books are so helpful...but you can get all kinds of menus from the internet for Free. Here are just a few...

http://www.geocities.com/HotSprings/4966/recipes.htm

http://www.candida-cure-recipes.com/

I've switched to Coconut oil to cook with - it's great for Candida as well.

http://www.aquaflorainc.com/candida_diet_1.htm

The only fruit I allow myself is Apple. Everything else 'brings-it-on'.

Today my LLMD provided me with this product to try: 5-10 drops under the tongue - CANDIDA PLUS by Deseret Biologicals

Also I use probiotics three to four times a day.

Jarro-Dophilus is good. HMF Powder is excellent. There are many other good probiotic products.

You can do a search and find other suggested products in previous Flash Discussions.

When I eat out - I DO NOT order from the menu. I always tell the wait-person that I have special needs - then I order a piece of chicken or steak with NOTHING on it...plus roasted or ? veggies plain.

I used to order salad with no dressing, but they nearly all have stuff sprayed on them for preserving, etc. I don't order salad anymore - just a hunk of meat cooked plain + a veggy barely roasted.

Candida - I've got it in my ears, mouth, intestinal track, and more. It's a bitzh.

I LOVE ALABAMA ! ! !
