Two things I did that worked for me.
1-Strawberry flavored twizzlers
2-Kept telling myself, "if I start back now, I will have to go through all of this agony again".
Just stick it out James. Allow yourself another bad habit like the twizzlers. They were perfect for me because there are 20 in a pack. I kept them by the phone, in the car, everywhere I used to keep cigarettes.
I gained 10 lbs but lost it fast enough. Don't worry about the bad effect of the sugar. It isn't nearly as bad as the carcinogen impact of cigarette smoke.
Good luck. Hang in there. I promise you the day will come that you will walk past the cigarette aisle and not even want one. You'll wonder what you ever saw in them. Hard to believe now but it is so true.

Get the book....The Only Way to Stop Smoking Permanently by Allen Carr
Don"t Smoke!!!!!!!!!!!! It will be so hard to get that monkey off your back. Don't go near any friends or family that smoke.....that would be like dancing with the devil.
You can be a non smoker. You can do it!!!!!!
I know it's hard when you feel so awful, can you indulge yourself with things you like that won't harm you? Eat some nuts, lose yourself in a book, movies, anything.

Just keep thinking, "It's my choice to not smoke. I have the power to not do it. (It's as easy as that) It doesn't have power over me."
And remember, don't even have one-it will only lead to more. I quit 1 1/2 years ago after MANY failed attempts. I just took it one day at a time, and set a goal of 1 month, then 2 months, and so on.
I'm so glad I did it. Now I have the power-not the cigarettes!

Have you ever tried "Cinnamon Surge" Nicorette gum? All of the other nicorette gums did nothing for me as well as the patch. I had tried everything to quit smoking with no success, but this one did the trick for me. Tastes like a "fireball" ...takes the cigarette taste out of your mouth. Do not rely on willpower alone. I had smoked for-ever. I think they offer samples if you want to try it. I'll check on that for you.

Hi James, go to www.nicorette.com. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click on Site Map, scroll again to the bottom of the page on the right hand side, click on Try Cinnamon Surge and save $10. They'll send you a coupon. Apparently the samples are not offered anymore. Posts: 677 | From Virginia | Registered: Sep 2002

Someone I know who quit said that an additive urge only lasts 3 seconds. If you can keep that in mind and just get through 3 seconds that could help.

So glad your trying to quit. I guess it's been about a month and a half for me since quitting.
Nothing worked to help me quit either. I just came to the conclusion I had to let myself be a nasty bi$%# the whole week. I was so cranky. I couldn't even stand myself.
I just rode it out. After a week the urges got less and less.
I feel so much better now too.
Just let yourself be miserable..don't try to fight it. It is an addiction and anyone going through withdrawal is pretty nasty.
Good luck and keep it up...kit

Sure I have some information. Dr. Burrascano states that anyone who smokes, while infected with the chronic variety of Lyme Disease, and or co-infections, will never recover -- ever, at all................
He made sure to reinforce that during his lecture. He provided quite a long list of scientifically confirmed reasons and referenced his prior patients history. He said "Not one of my patients who smoked throughout the treatment process, recovered."
He said "One single cigarette, affects the healing process all the way out to 4 months, so smoke a cig in January, and in April, you'll just be out of the woods."
It was simple: Immune system depression, carbon-monoxide displacement of Oxygen in blood.

You can do it!!!! I smoked for 15 years and quit a year ago! I NEVER thought I would ever be able to say that! I got ****y just THINKING about quitting... but I was so sick of it making me even sicker! I actually took a month of Chantix to help me out and it worked great for me. I'm not saying it wasn't hard... it was. It is going to be so you just have to keep telling yourself that it is SO worth it in the end. And trust me.. it is.
I also used an online ticker to help me when I was really needing it..it told me how long it had been since I'd quit, how many cigs I had NOT smoked in that time period and how much money I've saved. So far, I have saved over 2.5 K
Just know that you CAN do it and you are stronger!

ACUPUNCTURE has helped a lot of people. Massage is good, too, but acupuncturist have some very specific treatments and herbs that address all the phases of this.
I'd say both acupuncture and massage, if you can.
LOTS of water, of course.
If you need to compare pictures and feelings in your mind: Old habits on the left side of a movie screen; new habits on the right. The right side then becomes full screen as new habits become solid and strong.
Your liver, your brain, every cell of your body will be so happy to be free of the chemical mix and have a better chance at getting well.
Enjoy breathing air. Fresh. Clean. Pure. Air.
Enjoy having fresher breath and even fresher skin!
Whatever treatment you then do for lyme will have a chance.
Enjoy the hope of feeling better.
Good luck.

Do a search on google for "laser smoking cessation".
I think it really does work judging by reactions my boyfriend is having from using the LightWorks. It seems that the cold laser therapy for quitting smoking is similar.

These are toothpicks you can chew on infused with tea tree oil, and they taste awesome! They are really powerful and they freshen your breath. They are addictive because they are like squishy and taste good. They are sold at a lot of health food stores, and they also come in Cinnamon. The original taste minty. Check out the reviews, other people who quit smoking like them.
Also, have you tried that thing where you tap your head or your body and tell yourself affirmations? There was a link to a site talking about how to do it recently, I will see if I can find it.

For me, I replaced the urge to smoke with a cup of tea. I drank huge amounts, had quite the tea collection.
