I know Buhner says 10-30 consecutive days max at a time, so was wondering what number of days people have found optimal?

Anyone take for longer than the recommended 30 days without a break?

How long a break should be left between repeated courses?

Any particular combination seem to be more beneficial?

My LLMD had me add Cryptolepsis to my current babs regime of Lariam & Clindamycin 7 days ago. I am currently taking a teaspoon 3x/d, and he wants me to try to increase to 4x/d.....He didn't mention however that Buhner doesn't recommend taking for longer than 30 days! But I speak to him next week anyway and will discuss then, so would be great to have some feedback on this!

Thanks in advance
Elaine

It's not featured in his book "Healing Lyme" but if you go through the web site to the discussion pages, you will find more.

I'm ready for the next step of this so I was curious, too.

This is all I can find for now on Cryptolepis by Buhner.

I just finished a couple weeks on andrographis, working up to the optimum dose and will now see about what's next.

Andrographis took a while for my stomach to tolerate but it's better now. Normally, it is combined but I needed to see how I did independently with it.

I find andro really is great for my brain in some ways.

It's good I don't feel like I'm going to have a seizure every time a door slams around me. But, it makes me incredibly sleepy. Still, my brain and adrenals are not a jolted and that is such a relief and hope. I am sleeping better, too.

Thanks again Keebler! [Smile]

That helps answer part of my question about Cryptolepsis!

I put a post on the Lyme Aid Buhner forum so hopefully will get some more feedback there and will let you know if I do.

Glad to hear the Andro is helping you!

Hi Elaine. My doctor told me to take one teaspoon three times a day for sixty days. I will be starting it soon.

There is a write-up on Cryptolepsis (p.25-26) in Stephen Buhner's 1999 paperback book Herbal Antibiotics, Natural Alternatives for Treating Drug-Resistant Bacteria

Copies are likely readily found via an amazon search (ISBN 1-58017-148-6).

Cryptolepsis is apparently active against Malaria, Staphylococcus aureus, Shigella dysenteriae, Neisseria gonorrhea, Escherichia coli, Candida albicans and Campylobacter .

Here is an excerpt from his book:

"Cryptolepsis has been found to be remarkably potent for malaria in human clinical trials. One such trial compared the effectiveness of cryptolepsis with chloroquine, the usual synthetic drug for malaria treatment, in comparative patient populations at the outpatient clinic of the Centre for Scientific Research into Plant Medicine at Mampong-Akwapim in Ghana, West Africa. Clinical symptoms were relieved in 36 hours with cryptolepsis and in 48 hours with choloroquine.

Forty percent of the patients using chloroquine reported unpleasant side effects necessitating other medications; those using cryptolepsis reported no side effects."

Fawne - Woodland essence do 4 oz bottles. I just got some from them yesterday. Not sure if the 4 oz one is on website as I called through my order on phone.

NorthernLyme1- thanks for posting that info! Reassuring to know Cryptolepsis has been shown to be well tolerated and effective...... against malaria anyway!

I'm glad the info helped although have not found anything re potential interactions of Cryptolepsis with drugs so perhaps ask your LLMD.

Buhner cites a source for Cryptolepsis on page 110 of his book but do not know if the company is still active:

Nana Nkatiah, P.O. Box 22489, Seattle WA 98122

Good luck with this and keep us posted on any progress as many are likely interested.
