I ran into someone (a stranger) in the waiting room of a Dr office (not my LLMD's)
who also has Lyme and they said drinking lemon water near summplements/meds was dangerous?!
To be honset, this person did not seem very knowledgable about Lyme/treatment or seem to have their facts straight.
But...thought I'd ask you guys if you have ever heard of such a thing
When I asked her why it was dangerous she didn't have an answer

Not dangerous that I know of. Heck... it's just lemons and water for cryin out loud! My LLMD recommended lemon water for detoxing and said nothing about the supplements I take.
By the way, I was using lemons and then I found this stuff called True Lemon at the grocery store. It's 100% natural ingredients, crystallized lemon. 0 sugars, 0 calories, no artificial sweeteners.
Ingredients are : Citric Acid, Dextrose, Lemon Juice, Lemon Oil, Ascorbic Acid (Vit C)
Anyways, I dont have anything to do with the product other than I drink it now... just mix it with water or teas. It is a LOT easier than squeezing lemons lol

thanks dawnee - I didn't think that made any sense, but I wanted to check it out with you guys
the person who told me this seemed a bit confused about many things...(well, a lot confused)
I saw that lemon product you are taking about at a natural grocery store last week thought it looked intriguing!
I actually just bought a lemon squeezer thing- this cool little device with a tiny opening you put a 1/2 lemon into and squeeze
so, no seeds - very easy, but you have to make sure the lemon is fully in -
the other day the half lemon popped out, and hit me on the head!

The benefit of fresh vs. juice is that the fresh is never heated .... the juices you buy in the store are pasteurized.

I have heard recently that you should not drink citrus type juices at the same time as taking abx. Especially grapefruit juice.
It probably has something to do with the acidity and absorbtion rate of the supps and the abx.
I detox almost daily with lemon water, but never drink it within 1 1/2 hrs of taking supps or abx. You want to make sure you are getting the full benefit of the supps and abx.

I try to drink at least 84fl oz's of filtered h20 per day.
I try to squeeze fresh lemon juice from half a lemon into fresh filtered water 2x's daily. That gives me one whole lemon juice per day.
I have not noticed any adverse reactions by doing this. I do not drink it ever close to taking abx or supps though.
I actually really enjoy the taste and have come to look forward to it. This also helps me to get extra water which is good for flushing the system and good for your organs.

Ok - I did some internet research and found this article about why grapefruit and grapefruit products can interfere with absorbtion of certain medications and why
but I found nothing about lemon interfering with supplement or medication absorbtion

As for the timing of citrus, that would be a question, but I've only seen it for grapefruit.
New reasons to avoid fruit juices and fruits when taking certain drugs - August 29, 2008
==================================
While I'm a fan of the gentle on-going liver support rather than detox "events" - the source matters whatever amount you choose.
It is important to consume only ORGANIC fruits. Normally, citrus fruits are treated with a tremendous amount of chemicals. It is not enough to wash the skin as the chemicals get into the meat of the fruit.
IMO Olive oil is wonderful - a tsp or TBS at a time with foods.
I do think the olive oil pushes or "detox" can be very hard on the liver and gallbladder and are deceptive in what actually comes out of that (so to speak), -
But drinking organic lemon juice and water (with a tiny touch or drop of stevia) can be a wonderful drink.
Still, Just don't overdo it or the stomach lining may become irritated.
And, along with all the advice here, I'd ask my doctor.

Grapefruit juice, for ex., is known to do something to the P450 pathway. If I remember correctly, I think it inhibits excretion of certain meds, including some antibiotics. I don't know if other citrus fruits have the same effect or not.
I know that you're supposed to avoid citrus while on doxy, but perhaps that has something to do with increasing one's susceptibility to sun toxicity. Can't recall exactly.
