In 2000 I had a bull's eye rash on my leg. Two years later, the doctors finally decided I had Lyme disease. Now, I have tested positive to Babesia, but my Lyme test is negative... Over the last few years, my skin has thickened and tightened and after a biopsy, they concluded I had scleroderma. I was told to take Plaquenil for scleroderma. My Lyme doctor gave me Zythromax and Mepron for Babesia. I would like to know if anyone has taken Zythromax and Plaquenil for Babesia and, if so, if it was effective? Can these two drugs be taken in conjunction with Carnivora? I am getting deeper and deeper in 'tis pear... Thanks, Cl.

You are aware of the www.roadback.org site aren't you. Lots of people over there with scleroderma treating with antibiotics. They seem to do real well with minocycline so I'd look into adding that to your mix.
My husband has some scleroderma like symptoms so at one point they put him in the undifferentiated mixed connective tissue category and babesia is a big issue for him also.

If you check out the ACA skin presentation of chronic Lyme, you will see a connection between scleroderma and ACA.
The big problem I see is they treat scleroderma sometimes with steroids... which is a BIG no- no if it is caused by Lyme. ACA is treated with antibiotics.
I have the ACA presentation and it was misdiagnosed as scleroderma.

Tincup I had been diagnosed with scleroderma last Febuary because of SCL-70 antibody was positive and getting higher in numbers. What is ACA? I am interested in learning about it.

Why aren't you taking the Mepron? I would be much more comfortable with taking Mepron, Zithro, and Plaquenil than just Plaquenil and Zithro alone.

Deep that is a difficult situation. When I was diagnosed with scleroderma I was taking Plaquinel,prednisone,methotrexate, and folic acid. I have heard that minocycline works well. I don't know for myself. You need to find a scleroderma specialist. I saw a great one in Phila. plus you need to find a good doc for Lyme.

This has been a thread that has opened my eyes! I was diagnosed with scleroderma (primarily affecting my skin) when I was 7 years old. I never knew of a connection before, but this thread made me look into it. There are lots of peer-reviewed scientific articles suggesting a connection between LD and scleroderma. They suggest that antibodies we form against lyme disease cross react with our own tissue.
