I think it is drawing towards the end of my coverage date as far as insurance is concerned. I've felt like I definitely do not feel better, but worse on treatment, and I feel like I think it is doing *something*. The added symptoms that I never had, the new sweating problem, the 2-3 weeks of HELL in the beginning. I just feel like the 6wks of treatment my insurance allows really should just be the beginning.
I'm so Neuro that I feel like going to orals isn't going to cut it. I can't afford almost $1000 a month in i.v. set up fees along with the Rocephin.
Who in the heck here can? It seems like I've read that some of you have gone into debt, I've read things about people losing their cars, I know that after this last $1600 is spent (originally $3200) is gone, that's all there is for me as far as out of pocket we can pay.
My husband will not go any more into debt than this. I'm feeling very sad. The twitches are still there, the nerve neck pain is still there, the sensitive spots on my ribs are still there, sound sensitivity is still there, horrible sore throats are still there, rashes are still here (they really bother me), loss of appetite, brain fog, and in general - I just feel sad and depressed that my life has come to this.
How do they expect me to feel healed after 28 days of i.v. Rocephin? What do I do after that? By the time I go back to my llmd appt., I think I will be closing in on my last week.
This is going to be an important appt. with my doctor and I. I hope he has a game plan for ppl like me.
I remember hearing someone say they were on Rocephin for 10 months and didn't see a difference until the 5th or 6th month. How do you guys go beyond what your insurance allows or does your insurance companies allow it?
What can I do to keep going on the i.v antibiotics?

You might want to talk to your LLMD about IM Bicillin if your ins. is cutting you off. Some doctors believe that it is just as affective as IV Rocephin w/o as many complications.
Does your doctor use Flagyl w/ Rocephin? Some believe that Rocephin sends the ketes into cyst form.
bicillin takes awhile to kick in, my LLMD said after about 10 shots....it may be something to explore.

Don't give up on treating just because you may have to stop IV Rocephin soon. Maybe think of the treatment you've had as a jump start.
Talk with your doctor about your financial situation. He/She should be willing to work with you to find more economical treatment plan.
Orals might take longer but at least you wouldn't be running out of money and having to stop cold turkey. Others on this board have gotten better on orals alone.
As mentioned in an earlier post, Bicillin LA shots might be a good option for you to try next. They are a much much cheaper than IV (mine cost $35 per month with ins). You only have to get one shot once or twice a week. And a family member or good friend can easily be taught to give them to you.
So basically talk with your doctor, be honest with how much you can realistically spend on treatments per month and be open to trying new things.
