Hi Scottie,

I have been on the generic for zithro since June, and really havent had any side effects that I can relate to it. I do take as prescribed by the pharmacy (with food).

But everyone is different. You might want read up on the literature that comes with the packaging or ask your pharmacist to confirm side effects.

Sometimes they subside after your body gets adjusted to it.

Good luck! [Smile]

Yes I have and I have taken it twice.
The first time alone and that happen but about 1 week into treatment.
The second time was 6-8 weeks ago and that happen again but I am taking it with Rifampin now.
Again it took a week or so to happen.

My heart was racing so bad the first time too.
It does calm down but takes awhile. I had to take some anti-anxiety meds= Zanax. I also have insomnia so it made it worst so I had to increase that med.too.

Call your LLMD and see what they say.
They may switch you to Biaxcin which is the same class of abx but did not give me the symptoms mentioned.

I had insomnia and some anxiety symptoms for my 1st 4-5 days on zithromax, but it quickly went away and never returned.

I think sometimes when we start a new med that stirs up the bacteria, toxins, etc, anxiety seems to be a common side effect.

I agree that you might want to try xanax or another benzo until your system calms down.
