I'm in your boat. I was on doxy for 3 weeks and have finished my first treament. Playing the waiting game. I guess I feel a little better. Still trying to find a llmd in my area.

Anyway, you wait and see if symptoms reappear. If you can go 2-3 mos without any symtpoms, you're likely in the clear, although a relapse is possible.
Ultimately the goal is to have your bodys immune system be strong enought to fight off any infections without abx. If things flair up again, back to to the LLMD, or, do your own home protocol method (supplements, vitamins, exercise, etc, etc.).

Yes, you can see improvement and how your body is doing by blood work. Your blood work can actually start looking alot better before you even begin to feel better.
My llmd does it this way.
She puts you on IV abx along with many other treatment regimes until all of your blood work starts to look good. What I mean by good is, your CD-57 is normal, your inflammation levels are normal, you have nomore biofilm in the fry labs test along with a large reduction in coinfections. She also looks at immune system responses and coagulation. There are hundreds of other things that she is looking at but these are the big ones.
Once all these tests are good, along with good symptoms improvement, she will pull the IV's and switch to orals and send you home, most patients will remain on orals until they are symptoms free and all tests are completly normal. (Patients are usually on orals for 6-18 months) Depending on how disabled the patient was.

My LLMD actually does a remission challenge.
If you go symptom free on antibiotics for 2-3 months, then comes the challenge.
On two days of the week, one followed by the other,
You take 1500mg of flagyl, on the next day 1500mg of biaxin.
(I know run on sentence....can't help myself today. )
If you herx....back on antibiotics you go.
If you don't, then repeat challenge weekly.
If you can go 2-3 months without herxing, then you are Officially in Remission.
For me I will look at it as a much welcome respite.
As I am chronic with Lyme, I may never fully finish treatment in my life time.
However, I'll take the good days over the bad anytime.

Lyme's never been cured in any animal, even in the cases when it's
been treated right away, I've read. Whether or not one can stay in full
remission for life I'm not sure--has anyone ever heard of this
