Hi,
I have been dx with lyme and babesis as of may of 2008 started zithro and mepron for the co infection for 10 days went on doxy 100 mg 2 x day.
then retested for the babesia one month later and still had it so back to the zithro and mepron for 14 days then back to doxy. now retested yesterday for the babesia its been 45 days this time. so now to wait to see if its gone, I have been told it can take months of treatment to get the babesia. and it needs to be gone for the lymes to be killed.I have Kaiser so I see a co infectious doc there I cant afford to go to a llmd.

my test results...

PCR multiplex B. Burgdorferi
sample: Serum
GENOMIC-B BURGDORFERI - NEGATIVE

PLASMID-B BURGDORFERI- POSITIVE
CONFIRMED BY SOUTHERN DOT BLOT

PCR
sample: whole blood
genomic-b burgdorferi- negative
plasmid-b burgdorferi-negative

IGM WETERN BLOT

31 IND

39 IND

41 ++

IGG WESTERN BLOT

41 IND

IFA <1:40 TITER

I was told by a LLMD that I did a phone consult with that my pcr was like finding a needle in a hay stack. and my other numbers show a positive test result as far as a LLMD goes. I have had crazy symtoms for 2 years now.
so any advice would be great. I still dont really undrstand the test results and what they
mean.

Thanks Laurie

You can't argue with a PCR. So you have it.

It's going to take you a long time to get over this at the dosage of 200mg a day of doxy. Babesia takes far longer than a few months of med to clear.

You're fighting an uphill battle with no LLMD. I feel for you!! What happens when the ID dr gives up on you??

WELCOME to Lymenet!!!! [hi]

I have been treating babesia for 20 months straight. You can't afford NOT to see an LLMD. Please do whatever you have to do to get proper treatment.
