I have a four year history of neurological Lyme. Before I got Lyme I was an avid runner and since being diagnosed many of my symptoms are aggravated by any exercise. I think because of the inflammation it causes in my brain. Today I didn't feel well most of the morning - if felt like enough blood wasn't getting to my brain - and all of the sudden I felt a loss of control or coordination of both of my arms and generally just felt really wierd perhaps like I would pass out. This lasted a minute or two, I was then OK but anxious and exhausted. Now I have a splitting head ache. I wonder if this could have been a mini stroke?

I would call the doctor. If you feel you are still in danger, call 911.

If you thought there is any possibility of any degree of stroke, call 911 ASAP.

There is a certain window of time for a wonderful medicine that can greatly reduce the risk of long term damage.

At least, please call your doctor NOW. You may be able to still be considered for the treatment if the time has not gone too long.

The risk of this not being one and feeling foolish is far less than the risk of life-long damage that might still be able to be prevented if this was a stroke.

Whatever, something is going on and immediate care seems in order.

In this group of chronic lyme patients we have had many disappointments in doctors.

However, emergency medicine is where MANY doctors truly shine. Let them help you. Some of their techniques are amazing.

If you really think you may have had a stroke, I would go to the ER. Mini strokes usually don't cause a headache, this could be something else, possibly related to a brain bleed as well? Your description isn't something that should normally happen to someone and I wouldn't want the same thing to reoccur later, for example if there was a clot or aneurysm.

Please take care of yourself!

Have you been diagnosed with babesia or are you treating that? Have you ever been diagnosed with hypercoagulation or tested for that?

If you suspect a stroke most docs suggest taking a baby aspirin or low dose aspirin (81 mg). This improves bloodflow.

Have you ever had a SPECT scan?

In my opinion you probably did not have a stroke or TIA, but it does sound like you need to at least call your LLMD.

Are you on any blood pressure meds? Does you blood pressure normally run high or low?

Did you recently change any medications or supplements?

Based on hubby's experiences, my guess is that you have Babesia and it is affecting bloodflow to the brain.

This is not medical advice, just my opinion.

I hope you are doing better.

My experience with TIA's or mini strokes involve usually one side of the body or other.

Slurred speech, paralysis of the face on one side,

paralysis of the body on one side, etc., which usually subsides.

However, you really need to call your doctor asap.

Keep us posted, okay?

Hugs,

Geneal

I went to the ER. They said it didn't at all sound like a TIA or stroke and considering that my risk factors are low (I'm a 38 year old female with no other risk factors besides Lyme and they don't consider Lyme a risk factor)they didn't pursue looking into it except to give me a basic neuro exam. They said it probably falls under the constalation of symptoms that I have from Lyme or it is just one of those "unknown" things. I am sure it was caused by the lyme (or coinfection) but I have heard of lyme induced strokes which is why I wanted to get it checked out. I know that I do have a substantial amount of inflamation going on in my brain so, again, I was concerned. It seems all I can do now is mention it to my LLMD at the next visit. Right now I am not on abx, just doing acupuncture and chinese medicine. I hope to do abx again at some point....Thanks all!
