THIS IS AN EMERGENCY ( You can find out why at lymecryme.com
and lymeinfo.net)
Here's what you need to do:
--Get in touch with an LLMD (doc who treats more aggressively than is recommended by the Infectious Disease Society of America.) I'll PM you the info of a good one in WI who takes insurance and will be able to see you very soon. Look for some in your area as well, though.
-- In the mean time, do whatever it takes to get her a sufficient quantity of antibiotics.
It has to be treated, @ this stage, 400 mg of doxycycline/day for 3 months--far
more aggressive a treatment than her primary care doc will give her.
According to a lot of the research out there, you have only a matter of days in which to prevent this from becoming a chronic and potentially deadly brain infection. There's a study in the above recommended website in which it is stated that Vancomycin could not cure mice if treatment was delayed a week.
Sorry to have to tell you this, but all is far from right with the treatment of Lyme these days--peruse Pam
Weintraub's book Cure Unknown to make it really clear to both of you why she must take the above-detailed steps.

First thing...get on antibiotics now. Also, search this forum to get a list of lyme literate doctors. Make an appointment.
But dont wait on the antibiotics...get on Doxy asap for a good 28 days or longer..400mg which will last you till you see your llmd. Then continue on abx for two months past last symptoms...
Dont wait...
