Hi,

Can I ask a question? I took a day off from taking 400 mg Doxy (I weigh 95 pounds) and felt so much better. The achiness was much better, I could think and actually had energy. On Doxy it seems that each day I am worse, more tired, more achy, brain dead and very depressed. I have never been depressed before and I feel like a zombie. What is going on? I'm tempted to quit the Doxy but fear for my future. My labcorp test was negative for Lyme and I'm waiting to receive the IgeneX test. Could this be candida instead?

Thank you!

you could have both. most of us do, i think. with late-stage lyme the body becomes a soup of chronic infections, including yeast; our immune systems just can't fight anything off anymore.

I was thinking both too.

Candida can cause Lyme like symptoms.

However, if you have a yeast overgrowth, going off antibiotics

For one day shouldn't make a difference.

The symptoms you are having on doxy sound like a herx to me.

Is your tongue white?

Any other visible/discernable symptoms of yeast gone wild?

May want to back off the doxy a little, maybe try some diflucan and see.

Hugs,

Geneal

Our LLMD believes when you feel worse after being on abx, you should assume it is a herx. His recommendation is to stop taking the abx for a few days to see if you get better, then start back up again.

Thank you everyone for your responses. My tongue is slightly white but not bad. I took Sporanox one day and felt the best I have felt in a couple of weeks. I laid off Doxy for 36 hours and felt no better so there's no telling.

I did send off my IgeneX test today. Does anyone know how long it takes to get results back? I have an appt with a LLMD but he couldn't get me in until January - but he is willing to discuss treatment with my ND once I get my IgeneX results.

My ND told me that the symptoms for a fungal, viral or bacterial infection can be the same. I feel crappy and don't really know what to do for myself except keep on the Doxy, anti-fungals and probiotics. Allergies are bad in OK this time of year so that adds additional symptoms.

Counting days for the test results ...

I'd stay the course you are on....don't waiver...and don't change because of a negative.

I had BOTH hitting me really hard...and terrible MCS...however, I have improved since and am loving it.

Stay the course...but use your instinct.

Definitely keep on the abx until you get that test result...may take 3 wks.

At the same time, go on the anti-yeast diet and continue taking high quality probiotics.

u felt better one day on sporonox because u werent taking abx that day. if you do have yeast and take an anti fungal you will experience yeast die off which can be as unpleasant as lyme die off.

when u stopped abx, your herx died down and thats why felt better then...

cheers

derek
