I highly recommend organizing your meds:

My grandmother has been a huge influence in my life. She couldn't understand how lyme could be affecting her family so terribly. She'd ask me "How could this happen?" What she meant was the disease, the debilitation, the difficulty in treatment, the expense of healthcare, etc., etc.

She died recently (a beautiful death really). She didn't have much in the way of assets or money, just good health, heart and head. One thing she did leave me, however, was her pill box.

It was always kind of a joke because at 97 she still only took a multivitamin, tylenol and a thyroid pill. The home healthcare agency that came to help her 4 hours a week brought her a pill box that has a different container for each day of the week. Each container has four separate boxes for morning, noon, evening and bedtime meds.

I load this box every Sunday morning with my meds for the week. Nurses call it "pouring" the meds even though it's pills. I cannot tell you how much this has helped me. It keeps me on track. I always know if I've taken my meds, how much to take, etc. And I only need to have it together once a week to figure it all out. Then I can just pop the pills (10 at a time, gross) and be on my way (to the couch on a bad day).

I know from personal experience that missing a dose or two can really mess you up. If you don't have one of these boxes and you're on orals plus supplements, I urge you to get a pill box.

What a nice story to share, that also has great meaning.

I am aware of the type of pill box you are referring to since I use to use that when traveling. But yet when I'd be home with all my bottles in just the exact place and order I always keep them (don't anyone change a bottle around), I never used it.

Really doesn't make sense that I only would do it when traveling since it really was the convenient way to go. Thanks for a reminder.

Yeah, very nice story. [Smile] I have a pillbox like that...but I don't use it...I always end up taking them out of the bottle even though my box is filled. I need to get back to that. I hate taking my vitamins, I think that's why I avoid the pill box. Too many things to swallow. [Razz]
