Anyone else feel better if they take a day or two off antibiotics???

I always feel so much better when I skip or miss taking my antibiotics.

I think this is normal for most people here, just wanted to get your input.

Also, I seem to be better than some here (I've been in treatment for almost a year and a couple months). I have my good days and bad days, so I'm not always feeling ill, but a lot of the time I still do have the horrible days where I feel very sick.

I do. I don't do it often, but when I do back off the abx for a couple of days I usually feel better.

I don't skip days but when I had to be off for liver enzyme issues for 2 weeks my arm stopped bothering me and it had been bothering me for years. I couldn't even reach up to get anything out of the cupboard and suddenly it was all better! That was over a year ago and it is still fine.

This confirmed for me that I was full of toxins. Later verified when I found out that I have significant genetic issues that cause me to have difficulty getting rid of toxins.

I beleive I was able to get rid of toxins better because I had incorporated so many treatments to do so once I started treatment for lyme and stopping abx stopped creating more debri so my body had a chance to catch up a little.

Another factor is that killing all those bugs created tremendous inflammation for me for the first few years. A break in abx seemed to help bring down the inflammation.

Conventional wisdom used to say that one would get better after going off abx - maybe even months later. I thnk that was not an uncommone occurrence. There could be a lot of reasons for this but one could be the detox factor.

Of course, it could also be that you are having side effects from the drug itself.

I know it's not side effects from the meds. I can be on meds and have good days and bad days too, so I didn't even think twice about it being side effects from the meds.

Hey!

Dunno....tough question but I feel like I get this too.

Maybe it's just the whole procedure that your body has to go through....to filter out the drug, filter out and kill the bugs that are stirred up....etc.

It may also just be bringing bugs out of hiding everyday? Then they "retreat" when they aren't provoked by the meds?

Maybe that whole process is just taxing.

I have wondered the same thing though.

It just makes me want to work hard so I can get off these things sooner rather than later! [Smile]

I get worse very quickly a day or two off all abx is enough for me to get worse...

My guess is this is cause the babs for me... but this is just my guess.

Usually if a patient worsens immediately following discontinuation of antibiotics, most LLMD's seem to suggest that Bartonella or an unknown BLO organism is responsible, perhaps even Mycoplasma or Tuliremia. At any rate, initially, I did feel better stopping antibiotics.

I took a break in March.

I felt great for about a week.
Then I go down hill again. A little worse each day, then back to sick.......back on meds...........

Then the worst herx of my life. Worse then being sick in the first place.

I though I was going to die, or my head would pop off from pressure and eye fall out.

*****
This month my daughter got married. I skipped my evening doses a two days in a row prior, and just from cutting down I felt better, and did fine with the busy occasion.

I think I herxed moderately when back on full stregnth, then stablized again with my normal wax and wane of symptoms.

So...... I wouldn't recommend, however I would do it again for that big of an occasion. How is that for double talk?
