Okay, my friend was a little hazy on the details but both she and her husband were getting ready togo out last night and had the TV on CNN to watch the debate.
A commercial came on where a pretty girl said something like, "I had it all, I had a great life in NYC, a career and then I got really sick and no one could figure it out.
Finally someone figured out it was Lyme Disease and if it weren't for XXXXX Health Insurance, I could never have been treated."
My friend CANNOT remember the name of the Health Insurance Co but I think this is a step in the right direction!
Maybe someone with better resources could do some more digging? I looked on youtube but with no success and it's hard when she can't remember the name of the Health Insurance Co!! ARGH.

To my knowledge, there were no commercials during the debate.

lol...insurance caring about paying for Lyme...sorry, don't believe that. I know a fair amount about policies too. Next, someone will say they genuinely care about TMJ sufferers.

I saw it, too, but don't remember what channel was on. Actually, I was just listening from the kitchen, not watching, but I stopped when I heard the words LYME DISEASE during that commercial.
I was surprised, actually.

I don't know how anyone could possibly see this as negative. Maybe the health insurance co's are BS but this commercial (widely seen during the presidential debates) told a realistic Lyme Story.
I think it's validating and a step in the right direction. And if AARP really did pay for her, then maybe some others will start realizing Lyme isn't going anywhere and jump on the bandwagon.
I think I watched the same commercial (online in its entirety). The woman did not mention her insurance company, just that her unnamed insurance company dropped her when she got sick. The purpose of the commercial was to point that out, not to promote any insurance company.

WOW!!!! Just heard this commercial tonight. I was just sitting here and heard the word LYME DISEASE come from the TV and was like "WHHAAAAAAAAAAAA!?" LOL.
I agree with Clarissa, this is GREAT and a step in the right direction. Who cares what the insurance company does or doesn't do... It's awesome that LYME was on TV, and a commercial at that!

I saw it at least 10 different times in the last couple days. It was AARP "Divided We Fail"....
I almost fell off my chair, but was happy when the woman said she thought she had good health care but the disease put her 50K in the hole, because it took her one whole yr of many, many tests for them to figure out she had Lyme Disease.

MSNBC airs is quite a bit and again last night while following the elections. I was glad to see it because it also sounds the alarms for the reality of chronic Lyme! She talks about seeing endless doctors with no relief, until they finally found it to be Lyme. Hmmmm, sounds like a chronic disease to me. That is a good thing. She then goes on to say something about how she thought she had good health insurance(basically till she got Lyme). I forget the remaining points and not even sure if this was an advertisement for a health insurance company or not.

This woman's life mirrors mine. Just moved to new york, trying to jump start my career, thought I had good health insurance, sick for a year....
It looks as though she's recovered (or in remission, what have you). Maybe I just tell myself this because I need to know it will get better!!!

I saw it on CNN and they very clearly said Lyme Disease! I thought it was amazing, and in a great time slot! Good to see! It brought out how serious Lyme is. Good job!

The commercials (public service announcements) were sponsored by a movement supported by AARP to encourage Members of Congress to take action on issues important to all Americans. It's called Divided We Fail!
