Has anyone taken Bicillin in combination with other abx??

I am already on Zith, Mepron, Septra and Plaquenil...and am to add bicillin. Has anyone been on a combo like this??

As some of you may know I have a serious Medication Phobia... [Smile]

Unexpected, medicine phobia and you're going to the aggressive LLMD, LOL!

I don't know about Septra as I've never been on it ... but the rest of the combo looks GREAT! You're gonna get BETTER!!!

Think of it this way, you hit it hard, and it's gone. You're not messing around with lower levels and teaching the bugs to hide. That's our LLMD's philosophy. [Smile] Good for people like you and I who don't like meds.

If it makes you feel any better, I've been on the high dose Amoxicillin with Mepron and Zithromax and I seem to be reacting alright. Still kickin' at least. [Wink]

My LLMD seems to find no issues in mixing those above three, and he did also have me on Plaquenil with the above three until I choose to stop Plaquenil.

So I wouldn't worry too much about the Bicillin. I think the best indicator of "is it safe?" is just seeing if things start to seem "not right" when you go on it.

Keep us posted! [Smile]

I started getting really really bad muscle weakness, and I looked it up, and some websites were saying that it can be irreversible or serious, like the vision thing.

The place I noticed it most was my hands...they felt weak, and my fingers felt weird, like I had to think really hard to move them.

I also had a few of the other "random" side effects, like psoriasis, lightening of hair, etc........and then I just made the decision for myself to stop, because I was like, "this can't be good."

I truly believe though that it gave me a huge Bartonella herx, by making the Zithromax more powerful and helping it penetrate. So I was sad to stop it in that regard.

The bicillin shots three times a week by themselves really helped me stabalize. I was well enough to go off antibiotics for almost a year now but am once again suffering symptoms. When taking the bicillin shots warm them to your body temp before getting the injection. It will make a difference in the pain. It works!

Bicillin is very effective, I would do it 1x a week for no less than 12 weeks at 2.4

Alot of people have strep infection and this will help knock that out, for me I have to do 24 weeks of it.

Why only once a week? The medicine won't stay in your system all week. My doctor had me doing 1,200,000 units per 2 ml three times a week for almost a year. It was the only thing that really helped me get to the point where antibiotics were no longer needed for over a year.

I did the bicillin with ketek and tinidazole although it was the generic bicillin as it seemed to work far better than the bicillin I got in the states and it was a fraction of the price (7 Euro's per 1.2MU) my husband has been on this Bicillin 1.2MU twice a week with Levaquin/Valtrex and now Rifampin and after 7 months is leading a nearly normal life now - it is definately the bicillin that has given him this progress although his herx's were intense to start with.

I am on IV right now with malarone but will definately go back to bicillin eventually.

Unexpected, i'm on almost the exact same combo. Have been taking Bicillin LA, Mepron, Plaquenil, and Biaxin since July. Just saw my doc last week and started on Septra now.

It is scary being on so many medicines but i'm ready to be well again.

It actually stays in your system for ten days to two weeks. My LLD also preferred the higher dose at just once a week.

He actually feels many people do not see any difference with higher doses. I tried the higher dose and am now back down to 1.2 mu; as the 2.4 did not seem to make a difference.

Does the higher dose have a bigger needle? I thought someone here told me that once. And if I was getting 1.2 three times a week then I was getting more then the 2.4 once a week right or is that wrong?

I am getting my first Bicillin ijection tomorrow. Unfortunately I wonder if it is a waste of time because my doctor wants to give me only 600,000 units once a month!

The reason he is keeping the dose so low is because of the harrasement some docs here in Canada (probably in the US too) are getting for Rxing ABX. He has another lyme patient who gets the 600,000 once a month. She was on ABX treatment for many years and this dose now is just to keep her from going backward.

I will continue to take ketek, one a day, for a month or so until they run out. He did say he will reconsider upping my Bicillin dose when he sees how things go for me.

Am I wasting my time with such a low dose?

I take zith, plaquenil, mepron, and have been getting 1.2 bicillin shots 2x a week. He is now raising it to 3 shots a week.

My LLMD prescribes Emla cream. Rug it on 1 hr orior to your shot. My shots are pain free!
