Hi, I am going to be receiving an iron infusion on Friday because I cannot tolerate the oral iron supps. Has anyone had a bad experience with having lyme and receiving Iron?
Thanks. My hematologist says there is no other option because my serum ferrasulfate is so low. (6.8) normal 11-30?
Thanks for any info you may have. Jenny

Jenny,
I take an iron supp daily because my ferritin levels were also low. Mine were in low normal range 12.
after 2 months supplementation has gone up to 23. Doc wants it to be up around 50. My hair has not fallen out with iron supplementation.
Best, feelfit

I am only on oral iron. My ferratin was down to 3; my LLMD threatened a hematologist if levels didn't improve. After about 3-4 months taking oral iron it came up to 22 or so. Sorry, no experience with infusion. I don't think I'm having a bad experience with the iron, just a bad experience with Lyme and company! TS
