New symptom for me. Very painful. Anyone ever deal with a lyme induced version of this? I'm currently seeing a urologist to do the rule out thing. He thinks the dx is correct but he doesn't agree with the lyme part. Any help or advice would be appreciated.

Sorry to about this new symptom. Earlier this year, this was one of my main symptoms. I am not sure that it is Lyme related, but I suspect it is.
I treated the prostatitis with 28 days of Lavaquin, 100 mg. This was before I started my lyme treatments. After 6 weeks or so, the symptoms disappeared. I did the proper follow up with a urilogist and all had cleared up by the time I saw him
take care, you may want to consider Lavaquin. Watch out for the side effects of tendon pain

Yes. It was one of my symptoms that popped up prior to getting treament. All tests, negative. Once treatment started...nothing..everything has cleared up.

Thanks for the responses. Levaquin for 20 days did not help. The ur started me on an alpha blocker and that seems to reduce the severity of the symptoms but doesn't clear them.

I've had prostatitis symptoms since I got Lyme and my prostate has still not strengthened back to normal. I have taken many abx including two months of Ciprofloxacin a year ago before I knew it was Lyme that I had contracted. The Cipro did nothing. I also used Uratrol and Detrol with it, but no success. I tried Flomax for a few weeks too with no success.
I am young (20) and really would like to get my prostate back to normal. If anyone else has any advice of something that has helped with prostatitis please post. I have tried Levaquin high dose for a month as well without any success. I often worry that the constipation my Lyme often tends to cause puts pressure on my colon and prostate, hence the prostatitis.

I just saw a new uro today. He actually believes in lyme prostatis. So refreshing.
He needs to do a few more rule outs to back into the diagnosis but if everything comes back clean he has a plan for trying to help me.
The alpha blocker is still helping for now and has reduced the inflamation in my prostate.

My husband does not have Lyme but he has had great success with Pygeum and Saw Palmetto from Solaray. If he doesn't take it, he has problems again....so he takes it everyday.
good luck!

Had it...ongoing....for quite a while...until, I took longterm abx for Lyme.
Not uncommon at all.
I also had epididimitis chronically. And was prescribed two things for that..abx and....ejaculation...well, it was funny at the time. lol man...the things we have to put with.

Bernie and fellas...this is a touchy one..but anyway.
All of my MD's have told me....ejaculate once a day or more for a set time period...this strenthens and CLEARS the prostate.
It would also...pump blood into it and cause the abx to work better for you.
