Just finished my first week of Rifampin after having to go off Levaquin for GI problems. Taking 300 mg./1x day and will go up to 600 mg. tonight. I am very tired, my stretch-mark like rash is worse day by day and I have an unrelenting frontal headache. What should I expect? What have your experiences been like?

My experience with rifampin was that I really had to watch the diet, and even so, I could not tolerate it for longer than 2 weeks. (BAAAAAD diarhea, like fire-water)

My husband did just fine on it, and ate pretty much what he wanted. (no fair!!)

I have 2 strains of bart, no lyme. tinitus increased initially, then improved. All other symptoms cleared right away, and stayed away for about 2 months.

I am just now starting to feel like my hands are swelling up again, tired all the time, creepy crawly feelings that I had before.

Hopefully, your experience will be more like my husband's!!

best of luck.

Hubby always has the bad frontal headaches with rifampin. It's a tough one. Hang in there.

Rifampin has helped me, even though I herxed for a long time w/out stopping. I have been on it for 11 months. It improved my head pain and pressure, but my joint pain and muscle pain increased.
