Hi all!

I have been on high dose Amoxicillin (kills cell wall Lyme form) for quite some time. Currently I'm on it with Zithromax and Mepron, but was on it alone before this (gasp! cysts...i know). The Amox has been a good drug for me though.

Anyways, I am soon to start Rifampin and Minocycline.

I was wondering if I should insist on being on a cell wall drug like Bicillin injections, or staying on the Amoxicillin, or a cephalosporan during this next step.

I just need to know if it is worth it, if it is necessary, or if the Rifampin plue Mino is enough on it's own.

Lyme is in Cell-Wall Deficient forms most of the time, and converts to CWD forms when "attacked" by antibiotics. These can then reside inside the white blood cells, inside other cells, and as cysts.

In my opinion, you're not going to get long-term results in Lyme with antibiotics that attack the cell-wall division process. There may be other co-infections you have that are susceptiple to antibiotics that attack dividing cells that have a cell wall.

Some LLMDs actually try NOT to use these kinds of antibiotics, as they may drive the Lyme bacteria into more persistant forms.

Think like this cells all are replaced in in the entire body all cells every 14 months I went 16 straight months and now am off abxs since march 08.
