I been getting better.... but I woke up today with that 'lyme heart pain' in the left side of my chest. It also hurts in my back left shoulder blade. Today it feels like its in the side of my pectoral muscle. The last few days its been like a squeezing pressure on my heart with occasional shooting pains in the middle of the chest.

Am I at risk for a heart attack? Of course that is what I continue to worry about. Just looking for some that have had the familiar situation or to tell me that its just the bugs imbedded in there. This is where my disease started (in the left side fo the chest) and it seems where it manifested in me they are coming back as I am getting better. Just looking for any info or feedback on this as I'm very scared.

Clint -
Sorry you are having chest pain. It is scary. Please go to the emergency room or get in touch with your doctor ASAP.

You may need a work-up to make sure that everything is OK with your heart.

Chest pain of varying kinds can feel like it is heart pain when it is not. This happened to me years ago. I had a work-up - EKG - and I saw a cardiologist. Everything checked out OK.

Please take chest pain seriously and have it checked out just to be sure since lyme can cause some serious heart conditions.

I agree with Terry, if you are having chest pain and are concerned about your heart then you need to be evaluated by a physician. When it comes to your heart always err on the safe side.

Haven't you already had this thoroughly worked up? And, if I remember correctly you really don't have any real risk factors for heart disease (old age, high cholesterol, smoking, family history...etc). Plus, I don't think your symptoms are consistent with a heart attack (especially the fact that you have it so frequently). It's also not likely to be angina either. I know that this probably isn't much solace, but try not to worry about it too much. It could be something else, but I'm very confident that it's not your heart.

Carla and others, thanks for the replies.

I drove down to the fire station near my home and asked them to check me out. They were happy to do it. They hooked me up to the machine and watched my heart rate and my beat tendencies. They took my bp. They said my vitals did not show signs of a heart attack. They said i could choose to go to the ER and get blood work done (have had this done twice) or I could go home. I said since they said that everything looked to be ok I would go home.

Carla, you do sound like me a lot in what you describe. I had a cardiologist listen to my heart about 2 weeks ago, she said it sounded very good. I am having a stress/echo test on october 27 as precautionary. I took a xanax now.

If you are having an irregular rhythm -- beat slows down and speeds up -- then you really should consider some type of testing for hypercoagulation. Very common in Lyme and other infectious diseases.

The danger from arrythmias is that a clot could form.

A good LLMD will know about coagulation issues. Many put their patients on low dose heparin -- which also can help with Babesia treatment.

Or there are many other natural alternatives -- diagestive enzymes such as Wobenzyme or Vitalzyme. Or nattokinase or lumbrokinase or the list goes on.

Many many previous posts on hypercoagulation.

I vote that you need to be tested and treated for Babesia.

Did you see that cardiologist like you were going to a few weeks to a month ago? What happened with that and what did s/he say? That didn't give you any help in knowing that it's just the lyme and NOT a heart attack?
