My Elisa test came back negative. In september my babeosis test igg came back positive for past infection. Can this be a past infection and /or an old infection that has been dormant and now again causing symptoms. The past 2 months I have had headaches, night sweats, body aches, chills , joint pain, hand soreness, elbow and hip pain and back pain. For all of september I had insomnia and now I'm so tired but wake up often at night. A doc I see for fibromyalgia tested me for a whole bunch of things and babeosis , and ebv were high. He treated me for 2 weeks on doxy during which I felt even more terrible. So I went back and a lyme test done after and it came back negative. I made an appointment with a llme. Should I still persue this. I have had these symptoms ever since I had what I thought was the flu with 104 temp for 5 days in may 2006. I've had a ton of symptoms since which every doc tells me its the fibromyalgia. When I start to feel beter because the symptoms come and go I just give up and accept the fibro diagnosis.
Does anyone have any info that would be help full? Thanks mom of boys

If you have a Babesia positive, you most likely have lyme. The ELISA is a bad test and most people who have it done get a negative on it, even if they are highly positive elsewhere.

Lyme is usually what causes the fibro, in my opinion. This is also what a lot of lyme docs believe. Same goes for CFS and many other diseases.

I had a similar result-the only abnormal test result I had- but all the symptoms and finally got to an LLMD. I have since treated lyme, babs and bart. Go to an LLMD.You probably have a combination of infections.
Take care
