I pulled a deer tick of my 3 year old son about 11 days ago. The area of the bite was red for a few days and then started to fade away. Today I noticed it looked like there is a small pimple forming at the site. Is this the beginning of the rash? Thanks for everyone time.

If you pulled a deer tick off your son, Im praying you've already seen a dr and are getting treatment, right?
Please, dont wait for the bullseye rash to form before seeking some treatment for your child. Time is of the essence...
Im sure other will chime in quickly...!!

EMERGENCY! That rash means that he has Lyme disease--end of story. Don't wait for a positive test (which you probably won't even get, as even the best labs only pick up about 60% of the cases) to treat--you've got to do whatever it takes to get enough doxycycline (or amoxicillin, if he's too young for the doxy) so that you can treat with a relatively high dose for 3 months. Some very good treatment guidelines ,those of a Dr. Burrascano, are at the top of the board and definitely worth consulting. After you've gotten sufficient quantities of antibiotics, you need to find a physician in your state who treats in accordance with said or similar guidelines. There are maybe about 100 of them nationwide, but unfortunately they are the only ones who can be trusted to administer appropriate follow-up care.
Sorry to scare you, but this is nothing to mess around with; when the infection disseminates, it becomes incurable. Got to Lymecryme.org and lymeinfo.net to get a better idea of what you're up against here.
Best of luck, and feel free to contact me if you have any questions,
Adam
Ack--sorry but I just read the bit about the pimple at the bite site, and felt compelled to post a bit more. That particular lesion probably means that he received bartonella, another potentially deadly bacterium, from the tick. It is thus all the more imperative that you get to a Lyme-literate physician, as the above-discussed treatment will not act against this infection and most physician know eve less about it than they do about Lyme.

He has not developed a rash yet. I have been told so many different things about when the tick starts transmitting and not to start treatment unless you see symptoms. He hasn't had any symptoms yet until today. The spot I pulled the tick bite off has a tiny red pimple on it. I just need to find a doc that knows what they are doing because his pediatrician has never treated lyme before.

Ah--sorry bout having misread. Stayed up all last night writing a paper. Anyway, even if he doesn't have the rash, he could still easily have Lyme. In fact, Ithink only about 30% of the infected develop it...

Hopefully you kept the tick in order to have it tested to see if it is a carrier, as not all ticks contain the bacteria.
A simple red "pimple" could be just a bite mark...
Your son will not test positive for weeks...best to err on the cautious side and get him to a Dr. who understands Lyme/children. The "average" Md. has no clue...needs the PDR just to begin treatment...not enough knowledge.
Do NOT believe that the tick needs to be attached for 24 hours to transmit the disease mine was only attached for a short time...14 years later, I still have Lyme.

Yep, again, that is correct. Actually, mine wasn't even embedded--apparently, the bacteria were in its fluids in sufficient numbers for it to infect me simply by injecting whatever it uses to anesthetize/ inhibit immune activity @ its feeding site.
