Since I've been sick with lyme (about the past year having neuro symptoms) I have also had bacterial vaginosis. I don't know if it is caused by lyme directly or my compromised immune system but it won't go away!!!

I did a search on this site for BV but it seems like some people have been recommending treatments for yeast infections which are different than BV. BV is an overgrowth of bad bacteria and yeast infections are fungal and occur because there is not enough good bacteria.

Since I've started taking abx I have been taking probiotics to prevent yeast. Now I feel like I have yeast infections on top of the BV. Is that possible?

Vagisil makes a screening kit that measures the ph of your vagina. If it is a higher ph, you are supposed to have bv and a lower you are supposed to have a yeast infection (although it says check with your doctor).

I have used this a few times and it always says I have a high PH.

My LLMD prescribed flagyl for BV which knocks it out for a few days but it always comes back. Anyone else found something that works for BV (not yeast-related)?

I tried the garlic thing that I saw on here but it didn't work.

My LLMD just gave me a prescription for 750 mg of flagyl extended release for the BV (in the past I tried the topical gel which worked for a few days but didn't last).

I know that flagyl is used to treat lyme also so is it likely that I have a big herx from this (just wondering before I start so I can plan my days around my herxes!)

Also, isn't 750 mg a pretty high dose?

Personally, I would consult a doctor and get a culture done.

Flagyl also grows lovely yeast.

I take 750mg once a week to prevent c. diff.

However, I have pulsed 750mg 3 days a week with doxy.

I weigh about 100lbs.

The flagyl 750 ER is easier for me to take than three 250mg.

Have you tried diflucan?

Hugs,

Geneal

No but isn't diflucan for yeast and not BV?

What is c. diff?
