I had those knife like stabbing pains in my chest while on antibiotics.
I have not had them for a long time. Hopefully mine went away and will not return and I hope yours go away soon too.
It might be a bart symptom because this is part of a bart list
"Nerve irritation symptoms which can be described as burning, vibrating, numb, shooting, etc."

It doesn't sound like you are describing a rectal cramp, but if you are, it's called proctalgia fugax, which you can search upon for info. Not uncommon in lymies. I get them as part of herx.

Hi Kreynolds
Look into stomach - intestine parasites - I used to get sharp pains like you describe- had them for over 5 yrs
Once I did a parasite treatment the pains stopped completely --
I took Alaina (spelling) for one week -
(I am away from home so PM me and I will give you the correct spelling if you need it)
It is a prescribed medicine and comes in tablets- you take One pill a day for 5 to 7 days-

This article is a good one about the gastrointestinal symptoms of Lyme Disease. The author talks about alot of symptoms, including rectal symptoms (like rectal muscle cramping, for example).
ILADS has this article linked on their site. To read the complete article here is the author's website. Link will take you to her article, "Bell's Palsy of the Gut and Other GI Manifestations of Lyme and Associated Diseases."
p.s. Hemorrhoids can also cause the symptoms you mention. And they can develop or exacerbate from Lyme and Lyme treatment in some people.

Have you undergone a full GI work-up (Colonoscopy, etc), just to be sure...due to your family's history of cancerous pollups?

Been there, done that.
I assume it's just another manifestation of peripheral neuropathy. Borrelia causes nerve inflammation and damage, resulting in these weird knife-stabbing pains.
It's advisable to get a thorough GI evaluation to rule out other problems.

Are you seeing an LLMD? I would discuss your symptoms with him/her and also discuss the possible need for consulting a GI doc. And certainly given your family history, I can understand where you would feel a need to get a workup from a GI doc.
I can share that I'm doing that. I have a family history of colon cancer as well. I need to have a colonoscopy for that reason alone. In addition, my GI system has been hit very hard with many symptoms and secondary gut infections (bacterial and yeast) from my Lyme and Lyme Co-Infections.
In my own case, I think I need to at least have a colonoscopy to look for polyps and anything else that might be there. I'm told that a GI doc can actually see quite a bit during a colonoscopy. They can see evidence of infection sometimes. However, I can't think of a test that I would least like to have then a colonoscopy!
Even though I know that my GI symptoms are a direct result of my Lyme infections, I just want to be checked out structurally, if that makes sense.
