Good Morning All, For awhile now i have been on this board and thorugh much help from many of you, i was able to see a lyme doc. I came back positive from ignex and there cdc test. My symptoms as followed, Head ache times 1 month with stiff neck muscle weakness arm/leg pain 9 almost feels like i just did 100 push ups or ran 2 miles and have a tight calve muscles twitching all over, arms legs, butt, stomach lots of trouble swallowing ringing in ears a little fatigued burning in hands..... I saw a natro path first, she told me i had a thousand issues and i was getting ALS. Scared i went to a nerologist he did EMG and nerve test. ALl fine thank god, but still scared to death of ALS. Even though the test was clear. My question to all of you is, exaclty what were your symptoms i dont have "brain fog" and how and should i stop worring about ALS. Also do you ever wonder that IGNEX is a little fishy, because my lab test looks odd they sent my doctor to completly different reports with to different statmentst that had erronus dates// Sorry just parinod and need words of encouragment.

Shelly,
I have had alot of symptoms, some different than yours, but the wrists are one of mine.
I actually had my wrist xrayed because I thought it was broken it hurt so bad.
Been on abx for 6 months and still have wrist pain and weekness.
Has your doctor started you on antibiotics yet?
Please do expect after you start your abx, your symptoms can get much WORSE after they get better. And that process is called a Herximer reaction, or herx.

Shelly - I actually made a detailed list of these symptoms before I went to Mayo Clinic. they did nothing for me and diagnosed me with POTS.
You have a long way to go. Probably about 3 months on doxy or some other abx before you get better. (At least that was my experience).
It probably will depend on how long you have had Lyme. Anyhow, the symptoms will become unbearable when you start abx so stick with it and push through. Get on a liver detox and probiotic vitamin. Do not give up, it is normal to feel alot worse on the abx for awhile. You might feel like you even need the ER, sometimes I had to go to the ER the symptoms terrified me so much.
Here were mine:
Pressure in Head, White Matter Lesions in Head (MRI) - mayo clinic mri
Twitching of facial or other muscles facial numbness - I cannot feel my cheek muscles when I smile
Tingling of nose, (tip of) tongue, cheek or facial flushing -I get red flushing on my cheeks when I take the cholysteramine, and my entire nose is numb and feels very inflamed
Stiff or painful neck - Xray done last month with rheumatologist showed muscle spasms in neck
Jaw pain or stiffness - I have had awful trouble even biting into a soft bun- extreme pressure in jaw- my ENT at U of M told me to get a dental bite plate and take muscle relaxers for stress, this was a welcome suggestion but did not work.
Swollen Throat - trouble swallowing, feels like my Adam's apple is very inflamed, talking is difficult bc it hurts my throat.... My voice is very quiet, not it's normal loudness blurry vision
Increased floating spots - black floaters are present in my vision
Pain in eyes, or swelling around eyes - my eyes are too irritated to wear contact lenses in last 2 mths
Oversensitivity to light
Pressure in ears, oversensitivity to sounds
Irritable bladder (trouble starting, stopping) or Interstitial - very frequent urination with pain, my obgyn pushed on my bladder and it was very sore. Also he found nitrates in my urine, but no other counts along with the high nitrates.
GERD (gastroesophageal reflux disease)
Bone pain, joint pain or swelling, carpal tunnel syndrome - Rheumatologist tested me for RA , Lupus, etc, all came back negative
Stiffness of joints, back, neck, tennis elbow - my fingers are very stiff, also all of my joints are not limber like normal and they hurt
Muscle pain or cramps
Shortness of breath, can't get full/satisfying breath - I have been to a pulmonary doc at U of M and was tested for a Pulmonary Emmbolisn last week - all came back okay, there was some thickness in lung tissue noted. The ``POTS'' symptoms not relieved by Fludrocortison. Still out of breath when going upstairs.
Chest pain - pinching infrequent pains in chest
Tremors or unexplained shaking - my muscles have strange twitches
Burning or stabbing sensations in the body - I get wiered pains that shoot through my body
Pressure in the head
Numbness in body, tingling, pinpricks
Poor balance, dizziness, difficulty walking
Lightheadedness, wooziness
Memory loss (short or long term)
Confusion, difficulty in thinking
Difficulty with concentration or reading
Speech difficulty (slurred or slow)
Stammering speech
Unexplained menstral pain
Swollen glands/lymph nodes
Pain migrates (moves) to different body parts
Increased effect from alcohol and possible worse hangover
Now, a few months into doxycycline, my complaints are far fewer, but a bit disabling:
- Brain Fog - Pain in joints - Bad back pain - wakes me in the middle of the night - Can't think, forget things - Muscle Pain - dizzy and lightheaded in the mall and some other buildings
Do get checked for other illnesses, but Lyme can be just awful and can make you hope for some other diagnosis, because it is hard to accept Lyme can make you this sick.
Good luck!
