I have been convinced for 3 years I have lyme but there are no LLMD's anywhere near here and elisa and WB both came back negative. Still suffer symptoms of extreme fatigue, body ache, head on fire, neuropathy, etc. but not near as bad when first was bitten (had circular bruise) - or I have just learnt to live with the pain. Anyway, My lab started having problems shortly after I did with bouts of exteme leg pain - she is 10 now so I wasn't sure if could be lyme or just arthritis from age. This week (out of nowhere as know lyme does) she quit eating and woke me up twice in the night to go pottie (which she never never does). I took her and urine sample to vet -sample had blood in it - but here is the weird part - vet says there was some "bacteria/inflammation" under the scope and she had no idea what it was. She seemed totally lost as to what it was or what to do. She ended up giving her antiobiotic shot and 10 days of meds and told me to get another urine sample after that time and bring it back in to see if (whatever it is was gone). If not, she will send new sample away to be looked at by pathologist. I had asked her when I first took Midnight in for her legs about lyme and she said she had never seen it here. I can't help but wonder if this "unknown bacteria" is one of the many forms of lyme......Does this make sense to anyone else? Any opinions? Her associate has been a vet for 40 years and she has been there about 20 so I can't believe they don't know what they are looking at - has to be something rare. Thanks for any input!

hope is not HEMOBARTONELLA that every body is trying to figur out and responds only on LEVAQUIN.
That is exactly what I had and my symtoms were the same as you perscribe and YES you get a rash from it.
on my rife book -a natural doctor found out that there is a bug that is not lyme and sometimes comes or not with it.It responded to LEVAQUIN and CIPRO rather than DOXY.They did not know what it was.
Symtoms as as LYME but it not lyme.HAD IT myself.HOPE and wish I am wrong!!!

First of all, for you:
-you can sometimes turn a negative Lyme test into a positive by doing what's called an 'antibiotic challenge'. It involves taking antibiotics for a few weeks, then stopping, then retesting. That sometimes helps your immune system create enough antibodies to test positive.
-a lyme literate doctor would just diagnose you by clinical means- they'd rule out a lot of other stuff that could cause those symptoms but based on your symptoms, other testing, and your history, they should be able to diagnose Lyme.
-I've heard that it's possible to get a negative testing patient to turn positive by using accupuncture- it takes a LOT of sessions for accupuncture to treat something as deep-seated as Lyme but it can do a lot for your immune system. Depending on where you are this may not be cheap. A friend of mine had this happen and she not only got significantly better (all the while not knowing she had Lyme that was disabling her) but she eventually tested positive and once she got on oral antibiotics after that, had a very easy and complete recovery from what had been years of a very serious pain/fatigue/brainfog form of Lyme before the accupuncture.
-I've heard a rumor that some healthcare providers may have tried using cats' claw herb to help a negative testing patient's immune system make enough of an antibody response to turn a negative test positive. In other words, if this is true, it's like the antibiotic challenge but you don't need a prescription or a sympathetic doctor to get it. Cats' Claw is sold in most health food stores and is also called Samento when sold in this weird, modified form that some doctors used early on in the search for an herbal treatment for some Lyme symptoms.
I have not confirmed that this is actually true, but it's come up on this board in the past. There is a LOT of discussion of cats' claw and other herbal medicine for Lyme and coinfections in the book Healing Lyme by Stephen Buhner. Look in my signature below for a thread where users discuss this protocol. It's still a good idea to get a good doctor and not be working by yourself even if you're pursuing herbal treatment.
-The book Cure Unknown by Pamela Weintraub discusses other scientific reasons why some patients with the Lyme infection test negative. This should give you some info when discussing a negative test with a non-Lyme Literate doctor.
****************** For your dog:
Lyme can attack the bladder and the joints, and one bacterial attack can make other opportunistic bacteria invade the affected organ. I've heard that the dog test for Lyme is very accurate unlike the human one (our immune systems are quite different in this regard) so your vet should be able to rule out Lyme to some extent.
I'm sorry that you're having to deal with an aging pet's health worries as well as your own health at the same time!

Thank you for responding. Are you saying this hemobartonella can be by itself or with lyme. I am confused, I thought bartonella was a infectious form of lyme - I had read there were actually 200 some types. If it is just the hemobartonella was it from a tick bite or possibly something else like a spider? Do you have painful lumps deep in your skin....this is the symptom that I do not see a lot about...there are a couple other people on here I have talked to with them but it is not the most common. When I am having a painful or bad day you can run your hand up and down my arm, leg, and push hard. You can feel lumps deep down. When you push right on one it hurts so bad I grit my teeth. But, if you set and rub it, it will disappear and at the same time the pain goes away. Sounds crazy, but my boyfriend will verify - lol! - He can go directly to them and find right where my pain is coming from - the instant he rubs it out I feel so much better. I have them in my arm, legs, back, neck, sides of my stomach, feet. On good days when I have no pain and feel good - no lumps...
