Has anyone tried immunotherapy shots to help allergies to mold, dust, pet hair? The series of shots involve a 3 - 5 year commitment, and was wondering if anyone has gone through, or is going through, this therapy and if so, are there any notable benefits you've experienced and/or reactions/side effects?
I was also wondering if immunotherapy shots could interfere with Lyme treatment, or make Lyme worse? I am struggling with the decision to just focus on treating the Lyme (which will then hopefully reduce the allergies, or do I focus on treating the allergies, and treat Lyme secondarily. Is it better to be on abx while doing the imminotherapy shots?
Any tips or guidance would be appreciated. Thanks,
LS

GiGi said the Bionic 880 can take care of your allergy problems. Maybe it's worth a shot!

I had an allergy prick test a while ago. I had a very severe reaction to Rag Weed. I went to my Chiropractor for a back problem and mentioned my allergy.
She did a muscle test (which I had little faith in.) The test indicated a mold allergy. She had a homeopathic treatment that I bought just out of curiosity. I never rule out the possibility something will work as long as the risk and cost is minimal.
I used it and it actually seemed to work. I cannot say for sure because it was toward the end of the allergy season.
I will know for sure next year because it is all I am going to use for a true test.
Not much help but I though it was an interesting experience.

I think some allergies are caused by lyme, because lately I have developed an allergy to dairy products that was never a problem before. Maybe the immune system dysfunction caused by fighting a chronic pathogen makes it find new, previously unknown targets. Frustrated immune system?
You know, of course, that the NIH institute that handles infectious diseases also includes in their scope of work allergies? NIAID = National Institute of Allergies and Infectious Diseases.

Food sensitivities develop from leaky gut. Leaky gut develops from #1-antibiotics #2-Stress #3-Bad diet.
I have developed the dairy allergy too and sure do miss cheese. In the beginning of my illness, I had many food allergies, but now I only have dairy and soy.
Eventually, these should go away.
Rotational eating is a great way to avoid developing a food allergy. Eat something as much as you want one day but don't eat it again for 4 days. Diary and soy are in almost every packaged product so you could be eating it many times a day and not realize it.
70% of our immune system is in our gut, so makes sense most of our illness originates in the gut. Take care of the gut and it will take care of you.

Interesting information. Thanks for sharing everyone. I do know that the allergy shots are supposed to be effective for mold, dust, pet hair, but not effective for food allergies unfortunately. It may be months down the road, but I will let you know if there was any improvement experienced from the shots. Thanks again for your responses.

I had shots about 25 years ago, prior to my recent lyme diagnosis 1 yr. ago.
Shot seemed to lessen symptoms over the 3 year course of shots...but I still had symptoms. Allergic to ragweed, pollen, dust , all trees.
AS time went by, the allergies worstened again...and also had allergy induced asthma, and finally cats and dogs...that was new!
2 years ago, before my lyme diagnosis, I decided to try a whole body detox, on my own. I learned it at Canyon Ranch. They said if I stayed on it for 3 or more weeks, I will see some sort of life changing benefits. Since I was feeling bad in many ways, especially energy...I tried it.
Well, of all things, allmy allergies went away! I did not expect that...I was just looking for energy and feeling better. My energy did slightly get better. But I think the eating habits, and the diet was c0incidentally a lyme type diet, and the eliminateion of toxins in my liver, colon and body aided in the release of the allergies.
I still got worse with lyme type symptoms, but my allergies have not returned. They were pretty severe.
Therefore, I would recommend to anyone, before trying a long term committment to alergy shots, try a three-4 week total bldy clensing...like the "Detox Box", by Dr. Mark Hyman.(I got mine online at Amazon) It explains step by step how to prepare to detox, and what to buy and how to do it successfully.
Also, clean up the gut...get rid of candida/yeast/ metals.
Then see what allergies you have left to deal with along with thte lyme. It's all connected.
