My friend that was going numb from the waist down just called and said that she was having a lot of blood work done and so she asked them to include a lyme test.

The nurse said, "We don't have lyme in OK", she said, "well I know a couple people that have it, so apparently we do"..so they included it.

It came back positive, and they are telling her that it is a "LAB ERROR"!!! They are running the Western Blot and wouldn't give her antibiotics (she can hardly walk and is using a cane!!) until the WB was positive.

So now there are 3 of us in a small area (@2.5 miles of each other) that have major neuro lyme! Two of us live with in walking distance of each other!! Sorry, I am not buying the lab error crap!

I told her to get an actual copy of the WB and we can go over the bands together! I also gave her my LLMD's info (our other friend sees him also)...Maybe the three of us can start making road trips to our LLMD appointments!!

How completely irresponsible of that hospital. That makes me sick. I'm sorry to hear that is happening.

Wow, I had an Elisa come up positive about 10yrs ago, but the doc did not order a western blot. Wish I would have known about llmds then. Yea , that is unfortunate, but it is good that three of you can help each other. Swap stories, progress, experiences, etc.

My aunt was bitten in OK when she was a kid. Now she has the symptoms of neuro Lyme.

Her high school boy friend lost his college football scholarship because of Lyme disease.

Lyme is alive and well in OK and has been for many decades.

You know, she isn't even in the hospital!! They haven't done ANYTHING for her.

I forgot to add, that before the nurse said there is no lyme in Oklahoma, she said..."I used to work for an Infectious Disease Doctor..."

They should get the results of the WB soon, right??

I had a WB through IgeneX, but when I kept calling my doctor's office..I was told they didn't have the results (over a month). I finally called IgeneX and they said that he should have gotten them a long time ago, and that they could fax them.(My appt. was the next day)

When I went in for my appointment, the results were ORIGINALS that were folded as if they were in an envelope. I wonder how long he held onto them...as I kept suffering...and didn't contact me with the CDC positive results??

I am sure my friends doctor is FREAKING OUT that he will have to report a case of lyme to the CDC...since that isn't done here! (I didn't get reported because I never had an ELISA come back positive)
